Heart attack is a scary thought and no one would like to be at risk of heart attacks. The article on the risks of heart attack talked about those who are at a high risk of getting a heart attack. So for those who are at a high risk of getting a heart attack, this article gives simple tips to reduce the risks. The important aspect of reducing the heart attack risk for those who are in the high risk category is to do a lifestyle modification. This is easier said than done. To make this complicated process simple, lifestyle modification has been broken down into simpler units for easier implementation. Eat Healthy foods (Diet control): Eating healthy foods help in reducing the risk factors. Even those with no heart problems or risk factors would benefit from a healthy lifestyle with healthy diet. Healthy diet includes decrease in intake of fats(oils, meat and fried foods), and an increased intake of boiled foods with more fiber content. Exercise regularly: There are a lot of people who are so engrossed in their work, especially desk jobs, that they rarely get the time to exercise. Sedendary lifestyle plays an important role in causing heart attacks. So all people should do exercises regularly. The best exercise would be to walk for forty to fifty minutes a day for at least four days in a week. This would be very beneficial and help reduce the risk of heart attacks. All other aerobic exercises will also be beneficial. (Those already diagnosed with heart disease should consult their physician before deciding on the duration and intensity of an exercise programme). Quit smoking: Smoking is a high risk for a variety of diseases. So anyone who smokes should immediately stop smoking to reduce the risk of a heart attack. There is no other way. Quit or reduce drinking: It is always advisable to quit drinking. But some studies say that drinking in small amounts are beneficial(especially red wine). So if you are a heavy drinker, it would be advisable to drastically cut down on it and take small amounts. Medications: There are a lot of people who either do not take medication or stop medications in spite of being prescribed medicines(for heart problems). These people are at a higher risk. Always make sure that you adhere to the physicians pre scriptions. These are some of the common and easiest methods of lifestyle modifications. Adhering to most of the above will maximally reduce the heart attack risk and help you lead a healthy life.
