Denmark has always been a popular tourist attraction of Northern Europe especially for the neighboring countries like Germany, Sweden, Netherlands and Norway. Denmark has often been referred as a "Fairytale Country" and is the oldest kingdom of Europe. Despite of being the smallest Scandinavian Country, there are ample of places to see in Denmark with most of them being located in and around the capital city of Copenhagen. It is a perfect blend of rural and urban with historical monuments as well as modern architecture. Since it is surrounded with water on all sides except in the south where it shares a common border with Germany, it offers a lot of water sports including windsurfing, swimming, yachting, fishing and much more. With over 500 islands, Denmark has a lot of places to see and a lot of things to do for both first time as well as returning visitors. Popular tourist attractions of Denmark include museums, art Galleries, Castles, historical towns, beautiful architecture, breathtaking beaches and mouth watering food. Denmark is a dreamland and is said to be a complete vacation package offering both sightseeing and activities in abundance.

Not very many people are aware of the fact that there is a lot more to see in Denmark than just Copenhagen. Denmark is mainly divided into three regions Sjaeland, Fyn, and Jylland. Most of the popular tourist attractions of Denmark are in and around Sjaeland including Copenhagen. Jylland mainly comprises of its upcoming cities like Arhus and Aalborg which are the historical backbone of Denmark. Fyn is mainly popular for its natural beauty with green pasture land and beautiful powdery beaches.


The Danish capital Copenhagen is loaded with tourist attractions and has the best places to see in Denmark. The world famous Tivoli Gardens is most renowned tourist attraction of the city. Over three million people visit this place in the summers. Trivoli is mainly divided into two sections, with one section hosting a theme park with games and fun rides whereas, the other section has a overwhelming display of more than 100,000 flowers that bloom all throughout the summer. Nyhavn Canal, also known as the 'longest bar in Scandinavia' is also a popular tourist attraction of Denmark. Colorful homes along with several cafes, restaurants and pubs border the canal. Another place to see is the Rosenborg Castle which was once the home of King Christian IV is today a public museum revealing the history royal family of Denmark and their heritage. One of the biggest tourist attraction of Denmark is the statue of Little Mermaid that sits naked with bare breasts and a fish tail on a rock at the harbor. The true beauty of the sculpture is seen when waves crash upon her. With over 40 museums, several parks, canals and lakes, excellent shopping and a vibrant nightlife Copenhagen is a city that is much loved by most visitors.

Also known as 'The town of Hamlet', Helsingor is a historical city with well preserved architecture, museums, churches, lovely beaches and cobblestone streets. The most popular places to see are the Kronborg Castle which is the most famous castle of Denmark, The National Museum of Science and Technology, Church of St. Mary and the Carmelite Monastery.

Legoland is one of the best places to see in Denmark especially if you are going with children. Over 4 million blocks have been used to recreate miniature versions of popular cities from all around the world. There are several rides and popular shows like Adventure Land and Jungle Path.

Arhus is the second largest city of Denmark and the main attraction here is the Old Town which is an open village museum with a unique collection of more than 60 well preserved homes from various parts of Denmark that have been brought together

Aalborg is a popular city of Denmark and houses attractions like Budolfi Church, Aalborghus Castle and Jomfru Ane Gade which is a fun street.

Ebeltoft is adorned with natural beauty with a large number of beaches. The place has one of the world's first glass museum with a collection of outstanding pieces of art made out of glass. It is also home to Fregatten Jylland, the longest wooden warship in the World.

The Faroe Islands
These unspoiled islands packed with natural beauty are located between Iceland and Norway, north of Copenhagen. For nature lovers, this is the right place since it boasts of natural beauty with green mountains, waterfalls along with rich culture.

Zealand, Funen and Ribe are also worth visiting.
