The use of internet for various purposes has increased. Many people use internet for their entertainment needs by listening to music, looking at videos, chatting with other people. It has also become one of the most important communication devices that are present. The e mails are very quick in letter format. The internet telephone has also become very simple method of communication to the hundreds of people in other parts of the world.

Children have started using the internet with great skill and ease, more than their parents. This has put many parents in a fix. The reason for this is the fact that there are a lot of things that need parental control which are present on the internet. Controlling the use of internet is not as easy as controlling the use of televisions where the parents can block certain television channels.

The need for parental control:

1. Pornography:

There are a lot of pornographic sites on the internet. All these sites have content that only adults should view. These porno sites have been brought right into your living room by the internet. This is one of the major reasons for the need of parental control when children use the internet.

2. Pedophiles:

There are a lot of people who are predating for little children on the internet. These people are on certain chat sites and start enticing their children in a pseudo form through various means. This has made it very difficult for the parents to control. Even pornographic sites can be blocked, but these chat sites that are seemingly harmless can cause major damage to the children.

Method of parental control:

When the children are spending more and more time in front of the computer and the internet, the parents have to start noticing what kind of sites are being viewed by the kids. In fact if you want your kids to be prevented from looking at all the porno sites in the internet, you can start taking adequate steps even before the children start viewing such sites. These steps include the following:

1. Supervised internet:

If the child is very young, then you can have a period of supervised internet usage. This is very helpful for the child to learn about the internet and also for you to be able to monitor what is being viewed by the child. This is the method that is commonly used by many families.

2. Blocking certain sites:

There are many other parents who block certain sites that have pornographic content. This is easily done with the help of computer savvy people. Once this is done, the sites that display certain kind of pictures and content are all blocked. This is the method commonly used to block various pornographic content from the sites.

Parental control is very important as far as internet usage by children is concerned. This will not only make the kids learn the right things from the internet, but will also give the parents a lot of peace of mind.
