Pamplona and what you can see there

Pamplona is one of the most interesting places in Spain. It is a great place where every year in the month of July, the festival of San Fermin is held and this is one of the long awaited festivals. People from all over the world throng this place to witness one of the great spectacles that cannot be seen in any other part of the world. It is the famous bull run in Pamplona that takes place in the month of July every year, The San Fermin festival is for a period of ten days from the 4th of the month of July to the 14th of the month.

The bull run:

The place gets thronged by millions of people who try to get a view of the bull run. The bull run actually starts from the 7th onwards and the young men who want to prove their bravery run in front of the bulls and try to come out unhurt. The bull run festival is said top have started when one person decided that it would be more fun to have the bulls ruin behind you when they are being taken for bull fights in the bull rings. This is how the actual bull run started and it has now become so famous that people from all over the world come to Pamplona and it has become a famous place.

The bull fights:

Following the bull ruins, the famous matadors of Spain make sure that there is a greater feast for the lovers of the sport. They make sure of this by fighting in their characteristic way with the bulls and finally giving the animals the death blow. This may not be to the liking of many animal rights activists, but it is a part of life in Spain and it is also part of the culture of Spain.

Other festivals:

Pamplona is not only famous for the bull runs and the bull fights, there are also various other things that can be seen in Pamplona and there are also many other festivals around the year. Another famous festival occurs in the week between the Christmas and also New Year. As Spain is filled with 90% of Catholics, the Christian faith is very much highlighted by the activities of the people and the celebrations for Christmas and also New year start from the 24th of December and go on up to the beginning of January.


Pamplona is actually named after Pompey because historically it is said that Pompey camped ere at one point of time and there were people who stayed ion in the place and so it came to be known as Pompey's city or Pamplona. This is how the city actually got its name, but now the most famous occurrence is the bull run and all the festivities that are related to the bull run. Pamplona has become synonymous with bull fights and bull ruins around the world. It is one of the most important and famous tourist destinations too.
