Overseas visit: IT and BPO employees visiting abroad and having funBY: Muhammed Haris | Category: Others | Post Date: 2009-07-12
Team outings have been a new trend in IT and BPOs in India. IT and BPOs follow the working times as per US and European countries. So they have a two days weekend, each week giving its employees enough recreation time and to get refreshed for next week. IT and BPOs even enjoy the holidays of their client countries for example national holidays like "Thanks Giving" and Memorial Day" celebrated in America. So along with the regular Holi and Diwali Holidays, they also get days off on their client countries holidays. These holidays enable the employees to get more free time for family and friends. Many times companies sponsor team outings during the holidays in order to develop a good friendly atmosphere within the team. Here is my experience in a team outing, in Bangalore. That was the time when my team leader came back from US. He had sponsored an outing to us in a resort called Holiday Village. We reached there by noon. We had carried the hot drinks also. Everybody was very excited to hangout with the nice party. Things were costlier in the resort. But people were ordering without bothering about the cost since the company payed for all of it. Nice chats were available to begin as starters. We ordered chats to have it with liquor. But the chat was so tasty that by the time the drinks arrived we had finished the chat. We had to order again for more snack to have with our drinks. We had two teams. One team consisting of beer drinkers and another team consisting of whisky drinkers. So we were sitting at two different tables. There was a competition between the two teams about who is drinking more. I actually wanted to taste both. So I use to change the table whenever the drink used to be served at a particular table. Everybody was fully loaded with drinks, except my manager who was worried about driving the vehicle to take us safely back home, so that we will be available for office on Monday. Two of us came after drinking whole night. It was fun to see one of my team leads drink whiskey though he used to drink only the beer. It was nice to hear people speaking under the influence of alcohol. One guy started walking here and there to come out of his hangover, in order to get saved from getting beaten up at people. Another guy had vomitted three times and he was fully flat by the end of the party. We had a hard time to lift him to put into our manager's car and to take him to third floor of the building in the night time, to drop him into his room. That outing remains unforgettable.
