Asthma is a lung disease that narrows and inflames airways (According to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services). It causes less air flow to your lungs, wheezing , shortness of breath, coughing and chest tightness. Asthma is most problematic early in the morning or in the night. It can also causes airways cells to make more mucus than normal. All this causes airways to become very sensitive and swollen. ASTHMA CAN NEVER BE CURED, all you can do is try your best to suppress symptoms using medication or control Asthma through natural ways, only to a certain extent.

EVERY ASTHMA CASE IS DIFFERENT - UNDERSTAND YOUR ASTHMA:
The exact cause of asthma of Asthma is not known but your risk goes up if your parents have a history of asthma, eczema, tendency to develop allergies often or if your had certain respiratory infections as a child. Asthma is different for each person, therefore if you think you may have Asthma then first thing you should do is to consult your doctor even before trying these natural Asthma remedies. Talk to your doctor if these natural ways to control Asthma are right for you or not. Sometimes medicines are necessary to control Asthma because natural ways are not good enough to control it. Again, it all depends on your personal condition. It is easier to control Asthma when it's at an early stage, than to control it when reaches it's peak.

NATURAL WAYS TO CONTROL ASTHMA:

1. AVOID ALLERGENS:
The best way to prevent Asthma attacks is to avoid allergens that trigger it. Your Asthma may be triggered by seasonal allergies (like spring allergies or hay fever), dust, mold, Dust mites, cockroaches, weeds etc. It is important to know what starts your Asthma so you can take precautions appropriately.

2. STOP SMOKING:
Quitting the habit of smoking is among the best Asthma remedies. Smoking is extremely bad for lungs, especially for people with Asthma. It is recommended to keep away from even second hand smoke.

3. POLLEN LEVEL:
If the pollen level is high outside, then prefer staying at home. Certain plant and grass pollen can also trigger Asthma.

4. MOLD CONTROL:
Mold usually grows in humid areas like bathrooms and cellars in your home. In most cases a mixture of detergent and beach works well to remove mold. If your rugs and carpets are infested by mold than replace them.

5. FOOD ALLERGIES:
Asthma attack can be triggered by certain nuts and fruits if you are allergic to them. Sometimes it may be caused because preservatives and additional additives that are added to processed and canned foods. Sulfides in foods and drinks can also trigger Asthma attacks. Food related Asthma can be severe as it takes a while to get out of the body.

6. KEEP HOME CLEAN:
Among the best Asthma remedies is the practice to keep your home clean. A clean home has less allergens and they really help to keep your Asthma level down. A clean home is one of the best natural ways to control Asthma

7. KEEP PETS CLEAN:
Hairy pets like cats and dogs can have loads of minute allergens attached in their fur. It is important to clean them regularly too.

8. LEARN YOGA:
Certain types of yoga help to make our lungs stronger. Hatha yoga and yoga breathing exercises like Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Sodhana) and Skull Shining Breath (Kapalabhati Pranayama) are often very helpful.

9. EVENING SHOWER:
Taking a mild water shower can clean up all minute particles sticking to your skin and hair that might trigger Asthma attack in late evening. Human hair were acting like a sponge for pollens when you were outside.

10. REDUCE DUST MITES:
Wash your bedding often in hot water. Vacuum your furniture (like couch) with a HEPA filter. You can even try 'dust proof fabric' for that matter. Home based humidifiers can also bring humidity below 45 percent which drastically slows the activity of dust mites and molds.

11. AVOID SMOKE AND STRONG ODORS WHILE COOKING:
Strong odors can trigger asthma too. Therefore while cooking keep your windows open or use an exhaust fan. Infact Asthma attacks can also be caused by certain perfumes.

12. GET HEPA PRODUCTS:
Hepa window filters, Hepa vacuum cleaner etc. can drastically cut pollen level in your home.

13. EXERCISE:
Although Asthma patients have to be very careful while exercising because excessive workout may trigger Asthma attacks too. But moderate exercise helps to make your body and lungs stronger. You can also try to play instruments like saxophone and trumpets that help strengthening breathing muscles. Take the advice of your doctor.

14. CERTAIN FOODS CAN HELP FIGHT ASTHMA:
Foods like blueberries, onions, apples are rich in flavonoids which are not only rich in antioxidants but also help to protect airways membranes. Similarly magnesium supplements and quercetin rich foods can help you to control Asthma in a natural way. Again, ask your doctor about these foods.

15. BREATHE DEEP:
Deep breathing can also you to strengthen your lungs and breathing muscles.

16. CONTROL YOUR HEARTBURN:
Sometimes heartburn can trigger Asthma too. Therefore instead of taking bigger-less frequent meals, take smaller-frequent meals.

17: KEEP YOUR MEDICATION / INHALERS:
Get regular checkups for your Asthma and always keep your medications with you in case your Asthma starts. Preventing Asthma attacks without medication is not always possible.
