Miracle food Beans: Various health benefits of beans

Beans are a common and simple food that is eaten by people around the world. There are various health benefits that are seen in beans. This is now being considered as a miracle food. People in many parts of the world are embracing this food to benefit from the value that this vegetable offers.

The reason for beans being considered as a very important food is because of the effect of eating beans on various chronic diseases. Eating beans regularly has been found to prevent diseases like diabetes and also heart disease. This is because of the various nutrients available in beans. Beans have also been found to have a major impact on cholesterol by reducing its levels.

The other major health benefits of beans and the reasons for these health benefits are:

1. Soluble and insoluble fiber:
Beans has been found to have both soluble and insoluble fiber in it. This has helped beans to have all the major benefits of eating fiber rich food. Fiber rich foods have been seen to increase the digestive capabilities. It also gives bulk to the food. So eating beans can prevent gastro intestinal problems that include constipation.

2. Heart disease / Hypertension and Cholesterol: Eating beans has been found to decrease the incidence and also the severity of all the major chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol and heart diseases. All these diseases are usually inter related because of the functioning of the body. The nutritive value of beans, the presence of fiber and also various other factors combine to ensure the decrease of the incidence of these diseases.

3. Anti oxidants: Beans are a very rich source of anti oxidants. This helps to prevent cancers. Any food that is rich in anti oxidants is considered to be very good for health. The health benefits of beans are due to the high levels of anti oxidants in the beans. They prevent the presence of free radicals that can cause various diseases including cancer. Presence of anti oxidants prevents the occurrence of various types of cancers.

4. Obesity and Weight gain: Regular consumption of beans also has another health benefit which is the reduction in weight gain. Beans help to decrease the hunger in the person. This indirectly helps to prevent the person from gaining weight. Beans are also rich in protein. These protein rich foods have been considered to be the answer to obesity for many decades. It does help to an extent. So the high content of protein in beans causes the health benefits of reduction in weight of the individual.

5. Nutritive value: Other than protein, beans are also rich in carbohydrates, calcium, potassium, vitamin B6, magnesium, folate, and alpha-linolenic acid. The list of various nutrients as seen above have their own health benefits.

The various simple methods of cooking beans have also helped people in consuming more of this miracle food. The health benefits of beans have been utilized by almost all people around the world because of the easy availability of this vegetable.
