Methods to care for a Diabetic foot

Diabetes is a common problem and it is on the rise. There are millions of propel especially in the developing countries who are suffering from diabetes. Many of these people also have associated diabetic foot. This means that their foot is damaged because of either a vascular problem or it can also be damaged because of the neuropathy.

Whatever the reason for the damage to the foot, the person has to take care of it in the right way. This article gives a few methods to care for a Diabetic foot: These methods will help to prevent further damage to the foot thereby preventing various complications that can arise out of damage to the foot.

1. Self care:

The person who is at risk of the problems should effectively do self care. As the name indicates, this means that the person has to take are of the foot by themselves. Hospital based care is completely different. When the person depends on the hospital based care, and then they will forget to take care of their own feet and will not become responsible. This made health educations to coin the term self care where the patient is itself responsible for the care. The main reason being that the diabetic foot has to be cared for each minute and second. Thi9s cannot be done in a hospital, as the person cannot stay in the hospital all his life.

a. Inspection of the foot:

The inspection of the foot is the first thing that the person has to learn. This is because when the person is able to inspect the foot, they will be able to identify the various problems early enough to take adequate preventive steps and also to treat the various complications.

b. Soaking the foot:

This is another important aspect of self care. This method to care for a Diabetic foot: is very important because only when the Epson soaks the foot in the water will the foot become soft and this will prevent the formation of thick skin on the sole of the foot. Thick skin in the sole is a very high risk for the person to get diabetic ulcer.

c. Scraping the foot:

This method to care for a Diabetic foot: is also important because when the person scrapes the foot, all the scars that may be present are all removed and this can prevent the formation of a new ulcer over the scar of the previous ulcer.

d. Oiling the foot:

This is also important because when the oil is applied over the wet foot, the foot is kept moist for a long time and this can prevent any fissures or cracks to form on the dry skin.

Lifestyle modification:

Lifestyle modification is another important aspect of the methods to care for a Diabetic foot. This is because only when the person knows how to modify the lifestyle will the person also know the methods of preventing complications. If the person is following the same life style, then the person will be prone to various complications of the disease including diabetic foot ulcers.

These are the various methods in which the person who is affected by Diabetes can prevent the ulcer formation in their foot.
