Methods of protecting your laptop and increasing their lifeBY: Deena David | Category: Technology and Computers | Post Date: 2009-10-26
Laptops are the choice of people who use computers because of the ease of use and the mobility that it offers. There are many advantages of laptops over desktop computers. At the same time, one has to realize that the durability of a laptop may not be as much as that of a desktop. Laptops are highly prone for repairs and their life is also very short compared to desktops unless you are very careful with them. Though their life is short, there are many methods of protecting your laptop and increasing their life. Some of these methods are very simple and can be done by all those who use the laptops. This article will list some of these methods of protecting your laptop and increasing their life. 1. Carry case: Whenever you carry our laptop, make sure that you carry it in the prescribed carry case. This will ensure the safety of the laptop. The carry case should have undergone quality checks. A proper carry case would have adequate padding on all sides to protect the laptop in case the carry case is dropped. 2. Screen: The screen of the laptop has to be protected from any scratches. Even minor damage to the screen can cause the laptop to become worthless. Make sure that you protect the screen with adequate covers, especially when you are traveling. Try not to touch the screen unless absolutely necessary. Do not use any cleaning liquid to clean the surface of the screen. Only use dry clean cotton to clean the screen. This is one of the methods of protecting your laptop and increasing its life 3. On and off: When you do not use the laptop for a long time, make sure that you switch it off. Many people do not want to switch off the computer and so keep the laptop in the hibernating mode. This will cause damage to the computer that can sometimes be permanent. At the same time remember that if you are just going to go off for a few minutes, then do not switch off the computer. These tips may seem very simple, but there are a lot of people around who do these things. 4. Touch pad: The touch pad is also very important when you work on your laptop. Try to minimize the use of the touch pad and use a mouse connected to the laptop instead. Using the touch pad often will reduce the sensitivity and cause it to stop working. Using the mouse often is one of the methods of protecting your laptop and increasing its life 5. Keys: The keys on the laptop are also very important and should be handled with gentle care. Try to use them with minimal force and sometimes when you have to enter a lot of data that needs hard typing, it is better to use a USB keyboard and it will protect the keys on your laptop. This is another important method of protecting your laptop and increasing its life.
