Methods of preventing suicides in BPO employees

Suicide rates have increased because of various reasons. One of the common reasons for the suicides to occur is stress that is caused by increased work. The most common group of people who are seen to have a high rate of suicide is the people who work in the business process outsourcing, commonly known ass the BPO industry. This is a high stress industry with high attrition rates. The reason for this again is the stress in the job.

There are various methods of preventing the high suicide rates in this group of people. The various methods that have to be followed to prevent and also to decrease the suicide rates include the following:

1. Promoting mental resilience:

This is one of the first things that have to be done in the group of people who work in the BPO industry. All the employees working in the industry should be made to be optimistic and be satisfied with the production of the work that they are already having. This is one of the best methods of preventing suicides. This is because the mental resilience promotion helps to motivate the people about the work they are doing already.

2. Education about suicides:

The employees in an organization should be educated about the various risk factors of suicides. The people should learn about the various risk factors of suicides. This knowledge of the risk factors will help the person to be able to identify the condition early and then take appropriate action to prevent the suicidal thoughts.

3. Health and welfare services promotion:


One of the common reasons for the decrease in health is the stress that is related to the job. This health decrease can cause various problems. To prevent this, the companies should have either individual health promotion counseling or a group therapy that has all the people participating in the health promotion. Various welfare services can be also provided to the people which will help in preventing and decreasing the number of suicides.

4. Targeting high risk groups:

The various high risk groups within the employees and the organization will help to make sure that the suicide rate comes down. The targeting of these groups of people can be done by making sure that people in the very stressful jobs have a special counseling and therapy to prevent suicides.

5. Reducing risk factors:

There are various risk factors including the availability of high risk medications and other stuff that can be used for suicides. Making sure that these are not available for the vulnerable group will also make sure that the suicide rates go down.

These are the various methods of making sure that the number of people who commit suicide from the vulnerable population decreases in the business process outsourcing companies. In spite of these methods that are used by many companies, the number of people who commit suicide has been static with only a marginal decrease. Improving work conditions and reducing work stress is necessary to a larger extent.
