Foot odor is a common problem for many people. Generally it is thought that only men tend to have foot odor. In truth, it is not the case, even the foot of women have odor. The foot odor is because of the growth of bacteria. The bacteria grow more when the foot is warm because the bacteria start developing when the foot is covered by shoes or socks. The moisture from the sweat is the main cause for the growth of the bacteria.

There are many methods of removing the foot odor. These are simple methods that can be followed at home without any major expenditure. The first and best method of keeping the foot smelling good is to keep the foot dry and clean. Other than the cleanliness of the foot, the socks and the shoes need to be kept clean too to prevent foot odor.
The most important home remedies to prevent foot odor
are:

Socks and shoes:

Dry these foot wear very often in the sun. Wash them as often as possible. Avoid wearing socks more than one day before washing them. Some baking soda can be put into the shoes to remove the bad smell.

Soap wash:

Wash your feet regularly with soap that is anti bacterial in nature. These soaps are better than the regular soaps and will prevent the growth of the smell causing bacteria.

Tea bags and hot water:

This is the method of removing any bad smell from the foot urgently. When the smell is strong and if the smell persists even after washing the feet with antibacterial soap, try to soak the feet in hot water with a few tea bags in them. This is sure to help you to remove the foul smell that is coming from your feet.

Diet Modifications:

This is an interesting aspect to the removal of foot odor. The diet we regularly consume too has an important role to play in the smell of the feet. If one eats a lot of spicy food that includes onions and garlic, then the foot odor is likely to be more. So an individual ho wants to avoid foot odor should control these foods from their menu. This will help to reduce the stench.

Deodorant sprays:

The deodorant sprays are life savers. This is the quick method of removing or at least controlling the smell of the feet. Many times, the foot smell can be masked by strong deo sprays and this method is followed by many people who use it as a quick fix remedy. Though this is not a lasting method of preventing odor, it does help for the immediate time in preventing the smell.

The only lasting method of preventing the smell of the feet is to try and keep the feet and the socks as clean and dry as possible. Regular cleaning and drying of the sock is very essential. People who have tried all methods but sweat a lot from their feet which causes bad smell have only one option which is to avoid wearing tight fitting shoes, but instead try to wear footwear with open top as much as possible. This will help to control the smell to a large extent.
