There are various methods of holding a golf club that can be learnt by a beginner who learns how to play golf. There are many people who start playing the game everyday because of the various benefits that are derived from playing the game. The benefits include relaxation of the mind and the body. Golf is not a game that can cause pain and injuries like various other contact sports. It is a gentle game that is peaceful and gives mental relaxation to the person playing the game. While learning to play golf, the person has to understand the rules of playing the game. Other than the rules, the person has to also know how to hold the golf club. This is very important because this is the main thing that has to be learnt by the person. Once the person learns and masters the method of holding the golf club, they will be able to learn the method of playing golf. This article tells the various methods of holding a golf club. Interlocking grip and hold: The most basic and important method of holding the golf club is the interlocking grip. In this grip, as the name indicates, the person holds the golf club with both the hands and the fingers of the hands are interlocked with each other. This makes the person to have a very hard grip on the golf club. This is also the grip and hold that is most commonly used by people around the world, especially the famous players. The overlapping grip / hold: The next important type of grip that a person who plays Golf should know is the overlapping grip. This is one in which one hand of the player overlaps the other hand. This grip is also used a lot by many players. Though this type of hold may be a little bit weaker than the interlocking grip, it is also used by players for a shot that needs lesser power. The unconnected grip: This is the other type of grip that is used by players. The newcomers into golf use this grip more than the seasoned players. This is because this grip does not use both the hands over each other, but only have the hands at different places on the golf club. This is very similar to the grip used by players playing base ball. This makes the grip very weak. Though this grip may be weak, it is used by players in playing certain shots that need a weaker grip. These are the various grips that are commonly used by players to hold the golf club. These grips will help to make them play better and hit powerful shots than what they would have done if they had not used these kinds of grips and holds. There are also various other types of grips and holds that may be useful for players according to their preferences and these should be tried and compared with those listed here to learn which one works best.
