Methods of developing and improving sports in IndiaBY: David Prakash Kumar | Category: Sports | Post Date: 2009-12-02
Sports are one of the very important agendas of any country. There are many instances where sports were used to make political points. In act during the Hitler era, there were many instances when the Germans were forced to be superior in their activities because Hitler wanted people to think that his country and people were the best in the world. A similar thing happened during the cold war when the erstwhile Soviet Union tried to motivate its athletes into winning the competition. This was not only motivation, but there are reports that sportsmen and athletes were forced to stick to a regime where they were trained against their will too, if they were known to have talent. These days sportsmen are not treated so badly. In fact many of the sports people and athletes are given a lot of impetus by the governments and sports ministries around the world. In India, though the country is very big with vast resources, the development of sports has not been great. This is because of the various factors that play a role when a athlete has to be trained to excel in the discipline. This article gives a few simple methods of improving spots in India. 1. Infrastructure: There should be adequate world class infrastructure for the country to have excellent sports people. This is because when the infrastructure improves, the athletes are able to train in conditions that are similar to competition conditions. This helps the sports people to be able to excel in the sports. 2. Delinking of politics and sports: In India, sports and politics are linked a lot. When this happens, a person who is politically well supported is able to excel in sports, while another person who is not so well linked politically is left to rot. This should be stopped and instead, the people should be motivated to join sports and they should be made to excel by encouraging them. 3. Corruption: Corruption in various levels is another factor that makes a person to be demotivated and get discouraged. This prevents the individual from excelling in the sports. Corruption should be rooted out from sports to ensure that people excel in sports. 4. Scholarships: The people who are good in sports should be given adequate scholarships to make sure that they are trained properly and that they do not have to worry too much about the finances. Instead the only thinking that the athlete has to worry about should be the competition and excelling in the sports. 5. Training: Adequate training facilities should be present for the athlete to be able to excel in the sports. This is another important factor that will help to develop the sports scenario in India. These are some of the important factors that will help the individual in competing in world class tournaments and world championships and come out on top of the world. This should not only be the individuals dream, but the collective dream and goal of every person in the country.
