It is very well known that medical facilities and medical insurance in India are not given much importance. Health of the citizens of a country plays a major role in the development of a country. There is a saying "Sound mind in a sound body". Only when a person has a healthy body can he have a healthy mind to think and contribute towards the development. But health has been neglected in developing countries like India. People do not get proper medical facilities and employees do not get a good medical insurance. The main problem is faced by the common man who cannot afford to go to big hospitals that charge very high for even small medical problems. On the other hand smaller hospitals and clinics are not very well developed and do not have very good medical facilities with latest technologies.

In developed countries, there are well established health management systems. The health insurance companies ensure the people to provide appropriate financial support whenever the need be but this does not really true. When the need be, these companies give a very tough time in giving the financial help that they had initially promised. In United Sates of America, the laws like Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) other federal and state ensures that the private insurance companies gives the proper support towards the maintenance of health. USA is facing many serious health problems like Immunization (breast cancer). But the mandatory laws ensure that all the diagnosis and the treatment of Immunization have been covered by the insurance. Even for the side effects like loss of hair by the cancer treatments, insurance companies sponsor the purchase of wigs. Even the mental, chemical and alcohol related problem have been common in USA. So the mandates ensure that health insurance gives the unlimited number of hospital visits for the testing and treatments of such problems. The recent law of FMHP (Federal Mental Health Parity ensures that the insurance companies give the similar importance to behavioral health as well.

Developing countries like India also needs to provide better medical facilities and medical insurance to its employees otherwise the country can never develop and become successful. The success of a country lies in the hands of its citizens but when its people are not medically protected then how can the country grow?
