Living TogetherBY: logicalthinker | Category: Relationships | Post Date: 2008-08-31
We've all been there. The first flush of love, flirtatious comments in a bar on a Saturday night. Should I give him my number? If I do, will he call? He calls, we go on a few dates, we get to know each other and like what we see. Then there's the honeymoon period. We start spending a lot more time together, meeting each others friends and families. Said friends and families give that magical seal of approval and everybody's ecstatic so where do we go from here? Next step, living together. Once again there is a short honeymoon period where we are so excited about the idea of our first house together. We get to play grown-ups with the one we love and a take-away and a DVD on a Saturday night is just short of heaven. Nobody can disturb us, nobody will ever burst our beautiful, loved-up little bubble and life will be perfect forever and ever, the end, right? Wrong, so so wrong. We start falling asleep on separate chairs while we watch said DVD, we sicken ourselves of all takeaways within a 10 mile radius, we don't talk, we don't hug, generally we consider each other pretty much part of the furniture. Where before our cozy little routine was romantic and cozy it is now completely monotonous. We spend all week waiting for the weekend for time off work and spend the whole weekend wishing we were at work. Neither of us wants to admit the sparkle has slowly disappeared and this makes it hard for us to try and find a way to get it back. The only question is, can we ever actually get back?
