V I S I T - 5 THINGS THAT TEACH YOU ENGLISH V-VOCABULARY , I-INTONATION , S-SPEAK , I-IDEA UNITS , T-THINKING It is no exaggeration if people say that English is the Lingua Franca! We want to learn English because if one has the mastery over this language, it is certain that he is going to be successful. Mere knowing the language isn't adequate for anyone to be successful. What it takes is to be able to communicate well. And to communicate well you need to look at certain aspects of English language. 1. THINKING : Almost everyone whose second language is English since they try to translate from their mother tongue. They first think of the expression in Their mother tongue and then translate into English. This does not help at all. Try understanding everything in English. Try to think in English. 2. IDEA UNITS : Language is nothing but IDEA UNITS. Idea Units (Expressions) should come freely and easily from your mind. The native speakers too, don't think of the expressions and then utter. These Idea Units flow naturally. If you want to get used to this, listen to a lot of spoken English and read a lot of books written by Native Speakers. 3. VOCABULARY : This is the most important thing. The more the vocabulary you have, the better the chances of learning any language. Same is the case with English, too. Enrich your vocabulary every day. Concentrate on idioms and phrases and colloquial expressions which make your language look like that of the native speakers. 4. SPEAK : Another important thing to understand is that you need to speak a lot to learn English. the more you speak the better the chances of learning it quickly. Never hesitate to speak. No matter whether someone makes fun of you. You lose nothing. Moreover it makes you more determined than you are. 5 INTONATION : Intonation also plays an important role. Try and pay attention to the rhythm of the speech in native speakers. Try to imitate them.
