Learn the most common reasons for procrastination

Many people put off things again and again. The work is not done on time. This is called as procrastination. This is a very bad habit that has to be stemmed from a young age. People who are procrastinating are looked down upon in the society. This is because they will not be able complete their task in time and can never stick to a schedule.

There are many varied causes of procrastination. This article lists the most common causes of procrastination that is prevalent.

1. Habitual procrastination:


Procrastination runs in the family some times. This is because the child who procrastinates learns to be like that from his parents. This is the reason that children have to be taught good habits that avoid procrastination. So it is best to start early and teach your child to avoid procrastination.

2. Tasks:

There are many tasks that have to be completed in each person's life. Some of these tasks may be simple and other tasks may be complex. The simple tasks are easy to complete and so most people finish these simple tasks very easily. The difficult and complex tasks get left out. These difficult tasks get postponed indefinitely. This is the start of procrastination. The person may not really accept that they are postponing doing the activity. Instead the person will give a lot of reasons for the postponement. So the various activities that are present should be divided into smaller tasks and the individual should try to finish all of them.

3. Lack of schedule:

Making a schedule is very important to prevent procrastination. Any people who make schedules are better at finishing the job on time because they have set apart a specific time for the activity. People who do not make schedules never seem to be able to complete their work on time.

4. Indecisiveness:

When a person is not able to make a decision, then things and the work that the person is supposed to complete gets postponed. Every individual; should be a good decision maker to be able to complete the job on time. Lack of the ability to make a decision is one of the most common reasons for procrastination.

5. Complex activities and lack of time:

Complex activities need more time to complete them than activities that are simple. Simple activities need very little time to be completed. People who have a lot of time on their hands and are motivated complete complex tasks. When a person is not motivated or when the individual does not have time, it leads to a lack of ability to complete complex tasks. This is one of the reasons for procrastination.

These are the most common cause of procrastination. Each person may be in varying situations and the cause of procrastination may also change from person to person and situation to situation. The list above shows the most common causes of procrastination. The decision to procrastinate is with the person who does it. So only when the person decides not to procrastinate will the procrastination stop.
