Learn how not to be cheated while shoppingBY: Deena David | Category: Shopping | Post Date: 2009-12-04
Shopping is an activity that is loved a lot by many people. There are compulsive shoppers and others who shop only for their needs. When we shop, there are a lot of business owners who try to make a quick buck using us. This is done by cheating us the customers and this is the way in which many businesses can make a killing on their profit.
There are various methods by which the shoppers are cheated by the various shop keepers or the business owners. This article gives a list of the various methods that are usually used by the shopkeepers in cheating the customers so that you will be able to identify what is being done.
1. Cheap goods:
There are many things that are cheap for their actual value. This should make one to think if this is a very good stuff. This is because many businesses replace the actual goods with those of lesser value. This will give the business more profit and also increase the sales.
2. Expired goods:
If you are not in the habit of checking all the goods that you buy, then you may be cheated by the shop keeper selling you stuff that has expired or lost its value. This is because the shop keeper will go at a loss if he throws the stuff. So by selling it to customers, he makes a profit. He is at a great risk, because if he gets caught, he may be jailed, but the profit is a great motivation for the individual to do this. Recently another type of cheating has started taking place and that is clubbing the expired item with another item and giving the expired item free. This increases the sales and also the expired item is discarded. This is a gimmick that is taking place even in very big shopping places. So people should be careful to see if the free item provided has time to get expired or not.
There are a lot of goods that are under the weight of the actual weight that is advertised. This may be very little that the client or shopper ignores it, but if you think of the amount of sales that happen, the shop keeper gains a lot while all the shoppers lose out. This is not easy to identify as the various items cannot be weighed individually.
These are some of the simple ways in which the shop keeper is able to cheat the customers. It is very important for the person to be very careful while buying the various things that are on sale. Even reputed companies short change the customer in various ways.
If at all you have been cheated or you are being cheated by some shop or company, the best thing to do is to confront these people and get what you have lost. It is also best to report the malpractice to the appropriate authorities so that they are able to get the person not to cheat other people.
