Employees have tough time in possessing their jobs and gaining career growth during the recession periods and job security can become a major problem for many. Very few companies recruit the new employees. But employees who are joining for new jobs during this recession are not being given good packages. Recruiters simply quote the reason of recession, no matter whether the company has been affected by it or not. Employees who left the previous jobs, to gain the growth in their career really have the hard time to find better jobs. Job security is important but in a recession it becomes a very crucial factor because of lack of other job openings.

Many companies have directly announced that they do not take any experience candidates, just for the reason they have pay more for them. Even the freshers (candidates just out of college with no job experience) who are in search of jobs are expected to possess very good skill, even without any prior experience.

The campus interviews happen very rarey. The institutions who have promised the guaranteed jobs are just washing their hands away from their word, just by quoting the reason of recession. The job consultants' serivices have really become very costly, to get their support to find a job.

There is a saying, when the bloods of the people are flowing, that is the place to grab the wealth; these consultancies are taking the undue advantages of this situation.

There is large number of people who have been thrown out of their jobs by quoting one or the other reason. Though the actual objective is to reduce the budget and cutting the cost, the reasons which are being quoted are the poor quality, poor productivity and disciplinary factors. Not sure why these factors were not considered prior the recession period. There is no job security in a recession.

So the need of time is that employees need to be very careful about their performance and character in the corporate world. A common (undisclosed) trend that applies while sacking the employees is -Last in, first out-. So it is very important that an employee should not be switching from one company to another during recession. The tenure plays a major role in retaining the job.
