Being a woman, I feel that financial independence is essential for any woman in the world. Now, the present day women have made impossible things possible by breaking many records, setting new records, changing the way things function in the society everywhere in the workplace and at homes. The - family head- title is now shared by man and woman in the family, instead of man alone as in the past. What is meant by financial independence? I tend to regard financial independence as a stage at which we need not depend on anybody for our financial needs. Financial independence is the ultimate frugal goal to achieve for any person, especially for woman. In the family, woman is the key contributor but is she getting due recognition? Many women sacrifice their life for the family and they cannot overcome emotional dependence. The girls in the family are treated as -taken for granted- than boys and they are not allowed to take any decision. When they grow, they themselves decline towards men for their needs. They forget that they can also think, take decision and solve any problem in life. The parents while bringing up the child, whether boy or girl, should teach the child to be soft and assertive. When a boy cries we commonly use the words -Don't cry like a girl-. What does it mean? Does it mean that girls will cry for anything and everything? The girl should be trained to meet any situation and not to cry. The girls at the marriageable age hear the wishes from dear and near for getting a good husband but not boys. The self reliance is important for girls to become independent in all aspects. The education to women is essential. The girls should be treated at par with boys in all aspects. For men, there is a free life after retirement. But, for working women, they should lead a more busy life at home after retirement. The women should strive to be their own person, more independent of the people around them. They should be capable of standing on their own feet, at tough situations also. The ladies should have a world for themselves. Apart from home and office, they should have some hobbies and they should spend some time for themselves for doing the things of their choice. They can travel to places, visit friends and relatives or work as volunteer serving society. The women with energy, time and talent should use everything usefully. They should be cautious about money also. They should calculate how much money they require for future and take steps to achieve the goal. They need not spend money for buying the things they don't want for their life. Leading a simple life assures financial security. The role mother is incomparable. The women who sacrifice everything for others should awake. They should think about themselves. The woman who takes major responsibility in maintaining family affairs should get due respect from other family members. At the work place also, she should be regarded for her work and she should not be degraded for being a woman. In the society also, she can do her role bravely. She can take part in all activities. The family will be happy where woman is treated well. So, we can finally say that financial independence alone is not enough for women to solve all the problems.
