The Indian Premier league is one of the best and richest leagues in the world. The game of cricket has got a great fillip with the start of the Indian Premier league. This is because of the amount of money that is being earned through this league by the various players. The format of cricket that is being played which is a twenty over match is another important reason for the popularity of the game.

From the starting of the Indian premier league, the league has been having a lot of controversies. The starting of the IPL was because of the poor performance of the Indian cricket team in the World cup. There was another league called as the Indian Cricket league that was present, The Cricket board of India did not recognize the ICL, but recognized the IPL. This was the first controversy.

Second controversy:

The second edition of the Indian Premier league was conducted in South Africa. The reason for this was that that the dates of the cricket games and the election dates in India were clashing. The games had to be shifted to another place because the Indian government was not able to provide adequate security for the games. This shifting of the games to another country was the second controversy of the IPL. Though this was not a great controversy, it was still a controversy.

The third edition of IPL and the controversies:

The third edition of the IPL has the maximum number of controversies.
Inclusion of Pakistan players

There were no Pakistan players included in the third edition of the Indian premier league because of the political situation that is prevailing between the two countries. The reason given by the board was that the franchisees were not interested in picking up the players from that country because of the fear of the unavailability of the players. This may be partly true for some players not being picked up, but every player being given a cold shoulder was not explainable. Even the Indian government came down on this attitude of the board.

Matches being shifted out of Hyderabad

The next controversy related to the IPL this season was the matches being shifted out of the state of Andhra Pradesh because of the political climate there. The state has been divided because of the demand for a separate state of Telengana. This has made the people to be opposed to this and some are for it. This has made the political situation to be lucid. The organizers of the Indian Premier League were probably right in shifting all the matches out of the troubled state, but the decision was made unilaterally. This has made the Deccan Chargers from that state to send a legal notice against the IPL.

All these controversies may seem ordinary but some of these could have been prevented if the organizers had taken adequate care to make sure that all the activities were going on smoothly in spite of the various situations in the country and in other places.
