Increasing consumerism in pre teensBY: cool | Category: Others | Post Date: 2009-02-04
Above mentioned are just some of the issues parents of teenagers in 21st century are dealing with.the amount of pocket money a teen gets,is often enough to to see a family of four comfortably throughout the month.but they are still not satisfied.maximum parents are seeking councelling from the psychiatrists because their children's ever increasing demands are depressing them.a school going student who has a monthly allowance running into thousands, claims to be depressed,as he wants an I-phone and is not willing to wait till it is launched in India. He also wants to buy a hunk or charisma the other side. Now dear readers, can you make out who is responsible for this trend? Parents!!!!!!!!! I Know if u too are a parent, you are questioning your mind. 'Why me?' Well we don't have to go far to find the answer. Most product promotions target children... Why? Because they are vulnerable.adding to this parents eagerly fulfil whatever a child demands.either out of the guild at not spending enough time with them or to shoe what all they can do for them. Children want an immediate gratification, and when the parents who give them everything they demand suddenly deny them, and this is something children cannot accept. Children are not fools.and generally demand what they know their parents can give them.kids are not malicious. But learn what they see.such demands and the strong reactions come from children whose parents are spendthrifts. Peer pressure and availability of luxury items are also to be blamed. Even above all,the parents too need to explain their kids about what is reasonable and is practically unavailable.
