Every company, when it recruits its candidates, concentrate on both hard skills and the soft skills. Hard skill is the technical stuffs related to your domain of study. Soft skills are the essential qualities in a person to succeed in a career. It is the combination of both hard skills and the soft skills that make a person stand out the crowd. Highly qualified technical persons, those who have flaired well in their academics, may not shine if they do not know how to get along with the people and play a good sport in the team. All the organizations, project includes different types of people at various levels of expertise. To achieve success, team work plays a major role. In this case, soft skills are the important indicator of job performance as hard skills.

Soft skills are the combination of all intra personal and interpersonal qualitites of a person. These skills include competencies in areas such as positive attitude, self-confidence, decision making, good communication skills, leadership, accountability, self-discipline, self-awareness, not taking things personally, good team management, taking risk and many more. Soft skill is the social, communication, and self-management behaviors of a person.

How to project your soft skills:
Be a good communicator:
Overcome the fear of speaking in front of people. You might have a great idea or a plan towards solving a problem, but that will go unnoticed when you do not communicate effectively. Make you point precisely and express your needs with your fellow colleagues and clients. Listen actively, focus and participate in the conversation.

Problem solver:
Try to solve the problem creatively. Take ownership, be optimistic and come out with a plan.

Show your willingness to take more responsibilities:
It will show your enthusiasm, accountability and interest in taking an active role in the company.

Good interpersonal role:Teamwork, project management are more important in career growth. If a person is perceived as being difficult and unfriendly then, he will be unwelcoming in the team, management and client. It is more important to be cooperative and take leadership when appropriate.

Learn to work effectively under pressure:
Keep cool and handle the stress that accompanies deadlines in an effective way.

Advantages of Softskills:
Soft skills makes you get noticed and would create more opportunities.
It improves your personal skills
Shows your professional ethics

Sample interview questions related to soft skills:
1. Describe a situation when one of your decisions was challenged by higher management; what did you do and how did you react?
2. Describe a time when you were able to reverse a very negative situation at work.
3. Describe a major work problem you faced and how you dealt with it.
4. What types of experiences have you had dealing with irate customers or clients?
5. Describe a really difficult person you worked with and how you handled working with that person.

You can also incorporate strong soft skills in your resume. Think about the attributes that make you a strong employee, person and friend. Plan to be able to elaborate and describe these skills in an interview.
