The skin is a very important part of the body. The skin is the part that is exposed more than any other part of the body. The skin is the organ that adds beauty to the individual. If the skin is rough, scaly and ugly, then the whole person is thought to be in the same category.

There are various methods of making the skin beautiful. There are also other practices that can make the skin look very ugly. This article presents a few basic methods to prevent the skin from looking old. Avoiding certain habits can make the skin look more shiny and soft.

Ways to prevent ageing of skin:

1. Cigarette smoke: Smoking cigarettes are one of the most damaging methods of causing skin problems. It has been found that people who smoke regularly have skin that looks older. The skin of these people is wrinkled and also has a lot of scales. The turn over of the skin is more. There is more dead tissue on the skin. This makes the skin to look older.

2. Lack of exercise: Exercise increases the flow of blood. When a person does a lot of exercise, then the increased blood supply helps to make the skin look shiny and soft. Lack of exercise can make the skin look old. Exercise also helps to tone up the muscles and the toning of muscles make the skin to be shiny and look young. When the muscles are not toned up, the skin is loosely fixed to the deeper tissues and this makes the skin become older than it actually is.

3. Cold climate: Continuous exposure to cold climate makes the skin to become dry. This is because of the exposure of the skin to the cold climate and also the winds that blow. Both of the factors mentioned make the skin to lose the moisture to the atmosphere. When the moisture is lost, the skin becomes dry and also looks old and aged.

4. Alcohol consumption: The continuous use of alcohol may make the skin look shinier in the initial stages. This is because of the increased superficial blood supply that makes the blood vessels to dilate. As time passes, the skin becomes aged because of the permanent damage that occurs to the blood vessels. Thus decreasing consumption or abstaining from alcohol will help to prevent the skin from ageing.

5. Diseases: When the person is suffering from various diseases, the skin looks older. This is because of the lack of nutrients that are supplied to the skin. The nutrients and the blood are needed more for the healing of the deeper tissues that are damaged. Very less nutrients are sent to the skin leading to poor skin condition.

6. Diet and nutrition: Diet and nutrition also play an important role in making the persons skin to look young or old. When a person is trying to reduce the weight by not eating, then the lack of nutrition causes the skin to look aged. This is the reason adequate nutrition is very necessary to make the skin look young and nourished.
