Omega-3 fatty acids are one of the best foods that is present. This is because of the various benefits of the omega-3 fatty acids. This is called as a fatty acid, but it is very beneficial to the human body. It neutralizes the effect of the various substances that can cause damage to the body and cause disease. In fact the omega 3 fatty acids are the best weapon against the triglycerides that are also called as Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL).

There are many sources of the omega 3 fatty acids. The most common and well known sources of this omega3 fatty acids are the sea foods that include various kinds of fish. This article gives a list of the various sources of omega 3 fatty acids.

1. Salmon:

This is one of the richest sources of omega 3 fatty acids. This fish is very high in demand all over the world because of its taste. These days, more than the taste, the presence of omega 3 fatty acids makes this sea food the most sought after food by millions of people around the world. This has made the prices of this fish to zoom up.

2. Sardines:

These fish are also a very rich source of omega -3 fatty acids. In fact next to Salmon, these sardines are the most consumed fish for the content of omega 3 fatty acids in them. The amount of the omega-3 fatty acids present in the Sardines is also very high. This is another of the sought after fish, but the prices of these fish are still within the reach of the common man because of the abundant availability of his fish and also in the fact that since this fish is smaller, it is not as sought after like the salmon.

3. Nuts:

Though fish are the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids, the omega 3 fatty acids is also found in many foods that are consumed by the vegetarians. Nuts like walnuts; hazelnuts and pecans are all rich sources of omega 3 fatty acids and should be part of the diet.

4. Spinach:

Leafy green vegetables like spinach are other rich sources of omega 3 fatty acids. These foods also have various other health benefits and should be part of the diet.

5. Other foods:

The egg yolk of both chicken and also duck are also rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

Foods that contain a high amount of the omega-3 fatty acids should form the part of a diet of all people. This is very important because the omega-3 fatty acids will prevent and also reduce the severity of various diseases that can occur. The major benefit of including a high amount of omega-3 fatty acids in the diet is that the person consuming this can have decreased risk of cardiac problems and there is an also decreased chance of atherosclerosis. The omega-3 fatty acid reverses the effect of the bad cholesterol that settles on the walls of the arteries.
