Important lifestyle changes and things to remember during a pregnancy:

Pregnancy is the most important phase of a woman's life. The thought of a small child growing inside the womb is exhilarating. Women change a lot after the child is born. This is because of the bond between a mother and the child. During pregnancy, a woman might have many changes that may be happening. She also might want to know if any changes in lifestyle are necessary during pregnancy. This article explains the various lifestyle changes that need to be done.

Some of the lifestyle changes and aspects to remember in pregnancy are:

1. Delivery date: The mother should remember the expected date of delivery. This is very important as the physician or the gynecologist may ask this in each visit, especially if the woman is visiting another doctor.

2. Exercise: Many women do not know if they can do regular exercises. They may have doubts as to whether to increase the exercises or decrease the amount of exercises. Actually during pregnancy, walking, swimming and gardening are all fine. Contact sports in which there is risk of injury should be avoided. Lifting heavy weights should also be avoided as the delivery date is nearing.

3. Food habits: Normal diet should be followed. A balanced meal with all essential nutrition is necessary. Eating for the child is a myth. The normal diet will nourish the child also.

4. Travel: There need not be any restrictions in travel because of pregnancy, except probably during the last few days or weeks before the delivery. This is because of the difficulty in sitting for a long time in the same position. Whenever possible during travel, the pregnant woman should walk to maintain the circulation.

5. Sex: Healthy couples can maintain normal s*xual relationships during the first six months of pregnancy. In the last few months, the advice of the physician may be necessary. This is because of certain complications that can occur during pregnancy where s*x may exacerbate the condition.

6. Hygiene: Daily bath or shower should be continued as usual.

7. Body weight: There might be a marginal loss of weight in the first few weeks of pregnancy in some women. This is mainly due to the nausea and the mornig sickness. Later the pregnant woman gains an average of about 24 pounds or 11 kilograms during the course of the pregnancy. Abrupt changes in weight should not occur, but a gradual increase in weight is normal.

8. Mental attitude: The mother to be should be positive at all times. This is because negative attitudes can affect the health of the woman. It might also influence the attitudes of the developing child.

These are the lifestyle changes and adaptations a pregnant woman should make during the period of pregnancy. This article would have also answered the basic doubts of a woman during pregnancy.
