Kiwi fruits are not very commonly known. It is one of the fruits that cannot be got easily all over the world. This is because it is mainly grown in countries like New Zealand and Italy. In fact these two countries are the top producers of this fruit. The fruit in fact originated in China from where the plants were taken and grown in other countries.

There are various health benefits of eating Kiwi fruit. In fact each and every fruit has its own health benefits and kiwi fruit also has some unique health benefits. Some of the most important health benefits of kiwi fruit are:

1. Nutrients:


Kiwi fruit has a large amount of Vitamin C. It also has various other minerals like magnesium, copper, and phosphorus. Kiwi fruit also has other vitamins like Vitamin E and Vitamin A. These vitamins and minerals help in the regular and optimal functioning of the various organs in the body.

2. Anti oxidants:

Kiwi fruit like many other vegetables and fruits have a large amount of anti oxidant properties. This helps in the prevention of cancer by absorbing and neutralizing the free radicals that are present in the body. Some researchers say that the anti oxidant effect of the kiwi fruit is because of the high amounts of Vitamin C in the kiwi fruit.

3. Respiratory problems:

It has been seen that kiwi fruit is very helpful in reducing the various disorders that are caused in the upper respiratory tract. This includes cough and sneezing. Kiwi fruit has another important benefit and that is reducing the incidence of wheezing in children. The increased health benefit in reducing respiratory problems, especially in children is one of the important reasons to include kiwi fruit in the diet.

4. Eye complications:

Eating kiwi fruit regularly helps to reduce various eye complications. One of the most important problems of the eye in older people which is age related macular degeneration can be prevented by including kiwi fruit in the diet.

5. High fiber content:

Kiwi fruit has a high amount of fiber in it. This provides various health benefits by itself. The most important health benefits that are present on eating kiwi fruits with high fiber content are reduction in weight of the person. When an individual eats food that has high fiber content, it helps to reduce the feeling of hunger and the person reduces food intake. Another thing that happens is that the fiber content also prevents constipation and even colon cancer.

6. Cardio vascular disease:

The high fiber content prevents increasing the weight of the person. This in turn prevents increased fat deposits in the coronary arteries. When there is decreased arthrosclerosis formation in the coronary artery, there is decreased risk of heart disease. Kiwi fruit can also prevent increased cholesterol levels by lowering the blood triglycerides.

These are the various important health benefits that can be derived by including kiwi fruit in the diet at periodic intervals. So people should include kiwi fruit in their diet.
