The Indian Premier League is one of the greatest sporting events on the Earth. The reason for this is because of the amount of money involved in the event. There are also teams from India based on the various cities playing in the game. Cricket players from other countries are also involved in the game as part of the team. This makes it a spectacle to watch. The game also has one of the greatest new additions and that is Twenty twenty cricket being played. If the same game was played as an one day match, the number of people viewing the matches may not have been very high. This kind of the game has made more viewers watch the game especially the television viewers. Expansion ideas: The Indian Premier League is planning to expand itself by including a few more teams and cities as part of the game. There are various benefits involved in this, but as there are advantages and benefits, there are a few disadvantages too that are present if you plan to expand the Indian Premier League. The benefits: New Cities: The game may become more popular in parts of the country where the game has not been played till now. India is a very large country and the game is being played in certain cities only. The game can now go into cities where there is no cricket in the national level. More money: With the expansion of the game, there will be more money earned and this can be used to develop the game in certain parts of the country where the game is not developed yet. This is another important aspect of the game being expanded as part of the Indian Premier League. Disadvantages: There are also some thing as that are not going to help if the game is expanded under the umbrella of the Indian Premier League. This is because the game will not be very popular if it is still expanded. There can be a burnout as the game is prolonged for a lot of time. Injuries: Injuries in the players are a real concern if the shorter version of the game is played in such great intensity. The international careers of the players may be cut short by injuries if the Indian Premier League games are expanded. This is a major concern for the cricket boards of various countries. Careers of cricketers: The career of various cricketers have been shortened because of the Indian Premier League. Many of the cricket players have stopped playing in international games fort heir country because of the Indian Premier League. This is because of the wonderful pay package they get if they play in the Indian Premier League. If the game is still expanded, then many people may train and concentrate only on the Indian Premier League and not on other commitments as cricket players. These are the various advantages and disadvantages that may crop up if the Indian Premier League is expanded still more from the current number of teams and the number of matches.
