Walking has a place in the world of aerobic exercise that has already been proved. There are millions of people walking all around the world to improve their health. In fact there are so many benefits of walking and so many diseases can be prevented or treated by regular walks that it has taken a primary role in the treatment of many conditions. There are certain methods to reap the maximum benefits by walking that people should know. This will enable them to walk to their health.

1. The time taken for walks:

The time that a person takes for the walk is very important. This is because the more the person walks, the more the number of calories lost. In fact when a person walks for about thirty minutes, the person will lose about 136 calories. If the same person had walked for a time of about sixty minutes, the person would have lost about 272 calories. This is a very important factor that every person who walks should know as this will enable them to lose more calories.

2. The speed of walking:

The speed with which a person walks also plays a major role in enabling the person to reap the maximum benefits by walking. This is because when the person walks at a particular speed for a time of thirty minutes, they might lose 136 calories. At the same time if the person walks with an increased speed for the same time, the person will lose at least 25 calories more and this when added up for a month will be a large number of calories. This is the reason for the speed being very important when a person is walking.

3. The incline of the path:

The path in which the person walks also plays a very important role in helping to reap the maximum benefits by walking. This is because when the person walks on plain ground, the amount of calories lost will be less. If the same person is able to walk for the same distance at the same speed at a steep incline, then the calories lost will be more. This should be kept in mind and when the person walks, should try to walk up a incline as much as possible.

Precautions:

People who have cardiac problems and also various muscular or skeletal problems should be extremely careful before walking and should take the advice of a Cardiologist / Exercise Physiologist / Physical therapist before they start on a exercise regime. This is because these people have to be monitored before they start so that they know what speed they can walk at and also the incline on which they can walk.

When a person is able to walk with all these being kept in mind, it will help them to reap the maximum benefits by walking. Walking is an aerobic exercise and the person will reap all the benefits of doing aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise will help to reduce cardiac problems, hypertension and also help to decrease cholesterol and keep the person fit and healthy.
