The IELTS exam is usually taken by people from the developing world to immigrate or study in the developed nations. For most of the people from the developing nations, the exam is very costly as they have to shell out nearly half to a full month's salary to undergo the tests. This being the case, preparing adequately to clear the test and get a good score in the first attempt is very important. This requires certain skills and strategies that are explained in this article.

IELTS Listening Module:

The recording is played only once for the candidate to listen. Then the candidate has to answer the questions relating to the passage in the recording. So the candidate has to listen very carefully to answer the questions. Before the reading, there will be time given for the candidate to get familiar with the questions. So the candidate has to understand the questions and should be able to catch the necessary details.

Reading Module:

The main problem that candidates have in the reading module is the paucity of time. This makes it imperative for the candidate to be focused and also read the passage efficiently and effectively. The candidate should adjust the timings and use the time effectively to study key parts of the passage, answer the relevant questions and also to check the answers. Make sure that no answers are left blank as there are no negative markings for wrong answers.

Writing Module:

The writing module is a different ball game altogether. Some people may be very good in reading, listening and speaking, but when it comes to writing, they find it very difficult. There are certain methods of taking this test to gain maximum advantage. The most important thing is to prepare properly by planning and working out the sequence in which the person is going to write.

The candidate has to think logically and also ensure that the ideas are arranged logically. The writing should have a introductory part. Then the body of the passage with at least three paragraphs should follow. The final part will be the conclusion.

Speaking Module:

The speaking module is another important aspect of the IELTS. This is because of the face to face interview by the examiner. Usually, the examiners ensure that the candidate is at ease, but still many candidates are tensed during this part of the test. Most of the questions asked will be very simple and will be related to the candidate's personal life and their background.

The speaking test also brings out the attitude of the candidate by his or her expression of opinions about various familiar issues. The whole idea is to make the candidate talk and give a lot of information, the best strategy to prepare for this part of the test is to be interviewed by your friends or family members o fine tune your speaking abilities.
