How to make the trip more enjoyable for us and children? The children show much interest in travelling. We should plan to make the trip with kids more enjoyable. It is better to commence the journey during vacation for the children. We should take the interests of the children into consideration for planning the places to be visited. The vehicle for making the travel such as van, bus, car or train should be decided, as per their choice. If the travel is by own vehicle, the condition of the vehicle should be checked well, before starting the journey. If we hire a vehicle, then also we should strictly tell the owner that the vehicle should be in good condition and ask him to keep essential spares. All the family members with kids could make a trip or we may go with friends. When we take kids with us, we have to be very particular in certain things to make fun while travelling. First, we have to help the children to pack their things like clothes and eatables. We could advice them to take some playthings, to make the journey more interesting. The cards, tombola, ludo and chinese checker could be used when we move in a large group. The children should be seated in a comfortable position. We could not talk about serious things to children while travelling. It is not the time to talk about the miseries, sorrows and disappointments. We should engage the children fully during the trip. The travel time should be spent with pleasure. We may narrate the interesting stories with suspense, thrill or humour. We may take some story books to make the children engage for some time. We may ask the children to sing a song or narrate short stories. We could explain the places of interest when the vehicle passes through that place. When we are travelling by own vehicle, we may stop the vehicle and enjoy the sceneries. We may take photos with kids there. The word play is an interesting game which can be used while travelling. We have to give a topic and ask the children to say the words related to that topic. Or, we may say the name of a place, game, person, river, sea, mountain and the next person has to say another word in the same category starting with the last letter of the word told by us. We may play anthakshari or singing film songs. We have to start with a song of one line and the next person has to start with the letter where we stopped. Somebody else may decide the breaking point. This game may be played by forming groups so that the persons in the same group may discuss among themselves. We may write the some funny activity in small papers and roll it. Everybody has to pick up one slip and do the funny activity mentioned. The children may enjoy this very much. Similarly, one person has to describe a person, thing or a song by gestures only, without opening the mouth. The others could make some guesses to find out the correct answer. This may be played in groups also. We may encourage and take part in activities of the children. We may give small presents to the winning team. We should not restrict the children for eating the snacks and drinks while travelling. Since we are travelling very rarely, we may spend some money for eatables. Also, we may take some food, eatables and water from home. We may keep spare dresses for children while travelling. The mood of the children should not be spoiled at any cost. Even if they do some naughty things, we should not mind. We should move very freely with them, to make the trip more enjoyable.
