How to have a Perfect First Date (Lunch or Dinner)BY: Jessica | Category: Relationships | Post Date: 2008-11-25
How do men really know if their girlfriend was impressed successfully after that first date? Even if the guy thinks that the first date was scored perfectly from his side, that itself is not enough, unless you do not hear back from the girl in the next 8 hours or at least 24 hours, and she asks to meet again (so that she can basically enjoy more of the same).
Although you do not need to be a dating expert to have a perfect first date, some basic preparation does help. The most common start of a date is by having a lunch or a dinner together. This includes your attitude, presentation and some very important "Not to do" things.
1. THE RIGHT ATTITUDE:
Be a gentleman. Do not over-do anything, just behave well with a sense of respect for her. A mix of 50% introvert attitude and a 50% extrovert attitude works out to be the best. Be confident but keep your emotional side alive. Things like opening the door for her while entering the restaurant is good but pulling the chair for her to sit could be too much. Small gestures go a long way and convey her that you are a good and caring gentleman.
2. RECONFIRM THE DATE:
It is important to politely confirm/check with her that the date lunch for tomorrow is ON and you are looking forward meeting with her. It also gives an impression that you have been thinking about her.
3. SELECT A COMFORTABLE VENUE:
Given an option, I personally love to keep the dating venue in a locally owned restaurant (not chains) because they offer exceptionally great care and customer service to their guests. Their good food is a complement to your first date, plus the comforting ambiance makes all the difference. Select a location that has a mild guest occupancy with the seating arrangement well spaced out. If you have been in this restaurant before, then do not hesitate to suggest your personal best picks for appetizers. For many a traditional four-course meal can be boring.
4. KICK THE STRESS OUT:
Do not feel stressed just because it's your first date with her. If you are comfortable, it will help her to soothe her first dating stress as well. It is perfectly OK to order a glass of wine, vodka, margarita or any other "mild" alcohol of your choice to ease up. Alcohol works best for dinner meals than the lunch.
5. LISTEN AND LISTEN:
During a conversation, we humans often think what we are going to speak next rather than fully listening to the other person. Listen her with great interest and even ask questions or add short comments like - "But why did you do that?", "Smart move !", "If I were you, I would do the same" etc .. Even if she lands up speaking 70% of the time, whats the harm? You will know more about her than she will about you after your first date is over.
6. USE YOUR BODY LANGUAGE:
Use your expression of eyes, hands, face or whatever. Things spoken with mild body language have a lasting impact. Observe her body language too, if she seems to be leaning towards you or touching your arm, she is interested in you big time.
7. PRAISE HER GENUINELY:
Going out with a pretty women and not telling her that how gorgeous she looks tonight is a big mistake. Be sincere and appreciate from the bottom of your heart on how pretty she is looking in this dress. Again do not over-do it otherwise it may look insincere.
8. GIVE GOOD TIP:
If given an opportunity, women will certainly sneak to see how much tip you are giving on the bill. Therefore to end your perfect first date lunch, tip well.
9. YOUR APPEARANCE:
Most men think about women as pretty objects of s*x ( well, true for most atleast). Women are more observant in terms of your dressing sense like your shoes, white teeth, watch, fresh breath, well groomed hair, un-chapped lips, well shaved and more. First impression is most important on a first date. Especially during the lunch date, you are looking at each other all the time, which gives a lot of time to check out each other's appearance.
10. NEVER LOOK AT OTHER WOMEN:
Women believe that most men are dogs. Men usually will not miss a chance to see other pretty women even when they are on the first date with them. If she notices that you repeatedly see other women when you are with her, that's it !!
11. TAKE A GIFT:
I think a branded box of chocolates are the safest gift for girls. Avoid flowers on your first date as it can add to the "first date" pressure. If already have an idea about the kind of gifts she likes, then it's even better.
12. FOLLOW UP:
If you hear from her within first 8 hours, you have scored well in your first date lunch. Otherwise call her back telling how much you enjoyed and that you would like to meet her again sometime. If you wait too much or play an ego game, your relationship will likely fall apart. Women anyway need a bit of push anyway to come along.
If you execute things well, your girlfriend will be crazy for you. Have a good first date and enjoy your lunch or dinner.
