Every writer has a dream of getting his or her work published in a magazine. Seeing your name in print gives you a greater confidence to write more. It also gives you immense joy to have an article published. This joy is more for writers who have made the grade for the first time.

People who are regular writers for various magazines may not have the same kind of joy. For them it is a routine activity. Even for them, the first time when the article was published would have given a great joy. Along with the joy is the satisfaction of having achieved something in life.

So here are a few ideas as to how to go about trying to get your article published:

1. Be confident:
The more confident you are in getting your article published, the more successful you will be. When you are confident, the confidence will show in your writing. It will increase the speed of your writing ability and also increase the thought flow. When you are unconfident, you wont push yourself to the brink.

2. Failures are stepping stones for success: As a writer, there are bound to be many failures. Very few writers have a fairytale beginning. When you go through the grind of fighting it up the ladder, you have more experience and also you learn the tricks of the trade. This is an added benefit. So take all the failures in the right sense and restart your next query with the same enthusiasm.

3. Do your homework well: As in any other profession, you have to do your basic research right. Each magazine may have a different style of writing. Their reader base may be different. Due to this fact, unless you cater according to such variations, the magazine may not accept your writing. If you have a particular magazine in mind to write for, then you read a few of the articles from their magazine and write according to their specifications.

4. Write a query first: Most magazines prefer the writer to query first on the type of article they need. They may have hundreds of articles on a particular topic and if you write on the same topic, it is a waste. So before you write, send a query to the editor of the magazine.

Following these golden rules are sure to get at least an answer from the magazine publishers. When you keep trying, you are sure to succeed with a publication that will take you to cloud nine. Once you have done your first publication, your confidence level will shoot up leading to many more publications very easily.
