How to get rid of nervousness and be confident??BY: shal kris | Category: Self Improvement | Post Date: 2009-06-13
Are you afraid of facing job interviews or performing on stage? Is this a reason why you feel scared to apply for jobs or participate in a competition? Let me guess what happens to you when you face interviewers or audience. Your heartbeat becomes faster, your legs suddenly start trembling as if you are physically weak, you feel all time nervous and sometimes in some cases you sweat even in air-conditioned room. I know very well because I have also suffered with all these symptoms. I am a good singer but whenever I tried to perform on stage one could notice all the symptoms in my behavior and audience could sense it in my singing, my voice used to tremble because of nervousness. I never enjoyed singing, which was my passion, just because of extreme nervousness. You know, what happened to me once when I was on stage, I forgot the composition of the song. I was given three chances but I could not recollect the tune because of my nervousness. I was thinking what people must be thinking about me. I was feeling that I was the dumbest person on earth. Then my father, my mentor, who was a great singer and all rounder, told me something which, later on not only helped me perform on stage but also during every phase of my life whenever I had to face something or someone. He told me to think that ‘you are the best whenever on stage and people sitting in front of you are fools. They know nothing. And you will automatically feel confident. Then give your best'. I suppose I need not to explain how it really worked for me. Gradually I overcame my nervousness. I don't underestimate my competitors, audience or judges when I prepare but I don't let them rule my brain while I perform. Facing interview is also like performing on stage. One mistake and entire hard work is gone. Normally we do blunders because we are nervous and we concentrate more on avoiding mistakes rather than using our skill to perform better. Try this method and I am sure it will really work out for you, the way it did for me. Gradually, you will also become a very confident person and then you will never need to read such articles. I also recommend you to read the book ‘You Can Win' by author Shiv Khera. This book will definitely give new heights to your confidence level. Wish you all the best.
