There are many women who go through a lot of pain because of the delivery. The women go through the pain because they are very happy at the end of the episode because of the birth of a child. Since the pain is more, some people try to do some activities to get the cervix ready for the delivery. There are many methods in which the person can get the cervix ready. This article lists the various methods by which the woman can dilate her cervix for the delivery.
Medical methods of dilating the cervix:
There are many drugs or medications that help to dilate the cervix of the person. This causes the cervix to dilate by itself and get the cervix ready for the delivery. This will also help to ease the pain that the person has during the delivery. There are certain drugs like prostaglandin and pitocin that help to dilate the cervix.
Non medical methods of dilating the cervix:
There are many non medical methods of dilating the cervix. Some of these methods are proven to be useful and help to dilate the cervix. There are some methods that are being used by people, but they may not be safe. This article discusses the methods that have been found to be effective by people.
1. Sexual intercourse:
This is one of the natural methods that are used for dilation of the cervix and get it ready for delivery. Though it is used as a method by some couples, this may not always be comfortable for the couple because the woman is in full term and this method is not very popular with many couples as a method to dilate the cervix.
There are a lot of oils that are used by women to dilate the cervix. Some common oils used may be dangerous for the woman. Castor oil is being used by many women to help in dilating the cervix, but though the castor oil helps, it has got certain side effects that can be dangerous. One of the common side effects that are seen is the associated diarrhoea in the woman. This diarrhoea can be very uncomfortable and so this method is also not very popular among women.
This is a method that is more popular than many other methods. In this method, the person is given pressure on certain pressure points and this helps to dilate the cervix. This acupressure that is given to the pregnant woman must be provided by a professional so that no harm is done to the baby or the mother.
These are the various methods that are used to dilate the cervix. The woman who is using these methods to dilate the cervix should remember that though these methods can be used, the one she selects must be useful and effective. Some methods may not be comfortable for one woman but may be comfortable for another woman. So it is an individual decision to use these methods to dilate the cervix.
