It is very difficult to differentiate between true love and infatuation because an infatuation can become true love anytime. At the same time, a person who is in love with another person can have a decrease in the love. This people call as infatuation. This article tries to differentiate between these two important factors in life which almost all people go though. Infatuation: This is considered to be a phase in life where one person (it could be the male or the female) is smitten by in person and they would like to be in close contact with the other person of the opposite sex. This is called as infatuation because the couple may not always get married. They may end up not marrying each other because of various factors. One very important factor that shows that the relationship between two people is infatuation is the fact that the person may start liking another person and infatuation may not last for a lifetime. Love: Love is said to be true when the person likes the person of the opposite sex in spite of various factors and keeps loving the person no matter what. This is beyond all troubles and opposition that the person may face. This is considered to be true love. Love is also considered to last for a lifetime. The main differences between love and infatuation are based on the following factors: 1. Time duration: True love is considered to last a lifetime while infatuation is considered to last only for a few weeks or at the most few months. This difference may actually not be true because a person marries another because of the love shared between them, but after a few years of marriage, they break up because they find that they do not love each other. This does not make their relationship into an infatuation. This is because there was love shared between them, but it is just that the love has soured. 2. Depth of the love: A person may think that if what they share with their sweetheart is a deep love, then it is true love and if their love is superficial, then it is infatuation. The line between deep love and superficial love is not clear and what one thinks to be deep love may not be actually very deep and this cannot be measured. This makes differentiating between love and infatuation based on this factor futile. 3. Beauty: It is said that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. A person may think that unless a person is truly in love, beauty is a factor. The truth is that in many people's lives, infatuation actually changes into love and they start off being attracted by the other person because of the beauty and when they become close to each other, the relationship blossoms into true love. This makes one to think that infatuation can actually change into true love over time. These factors makes one to understand that true love and infatuation are in fact separated by a thin invisible line and no one can really say if the relationship between a male and a female is infatuation or true love. One has to understand that an infatuation matures into true love over time if both the people involved really want to live together and share a close bond. If this does not happen, the infatuation slowly fades away and their relation ends just as quickly as it started.
