How to avoid human and animal conflicts: Protection from wild animal attacksBY: David Prakash Kumar | Category: Others | Post Date: 2009-07-26
Human beings are just one among the many millions of species that have taken Earth as their home. The only species to invade the home of most of these species is man. Man has encroached upon the habitat of the animals of the sea, sky and the land. Humans have reached the deepest oceans, the dark outer space and every corner of the earth. This article talks about avoiding human and animal conflicts and protection from wild animal attacks. These encroachments have also brought along a variety of problems. Bird hits on aircraft are common. Humans being killed by the creatures of the oceans are also common. Perhaps the most common conflicts are the human animal conflict on land. Every day we can hear reports of human conflict with animals like tigers, lions, elephants, and other such creatures. The main reason for this is the shrinking natural habitat of these wild animals. Encroachment of humans onto their space has caused these animals to encroach human space. There are a few simple methods of avoiding these human animal conflicts as seen below: 1. No encroachments: There is enough and more place for humans to live. So governments should have adequate education of people lining on the edges of forests, not to encroach on the land meant for animals. 2. Trees: Cutting trees will also destroy the natural habitat of animals. Preventing felling of trees will help the animals cause. Saving the trees will leave a place for the animals to live. This will prevent them from roaming onto human habitations and also prevent frequent man animal conflicts. 3. Alternate livelihood: Alternate livelihoods can be given for the people on the forest edges. The best would be to recruit them for safe keeping of the same animals they were in conflict with. This solves both the problems of man and the animals. 4. Adventure: The increase in the number of adventure sports and tourism has made people from cities invade the forests for trekking and camping. This has increased the number of man animal conflict. Preventing entry to certain zones with high density of animal population is a possible solution. These are some of the methods by which human and animal conflicts can be avoided. Humans have to understand that since animals are instinctive and cannot be controlled, it is the duty of the humans to respect the space of these animals and not encroach or invade their land. Doing this will prevent most of the human animal conflicts and also protect humans from wild animal attacks.
