Storage is a very important when one considers things like drugs that are used in the hospital or the house. The reason for this is that there may be accidents where a person takes these drugs and then uses them without knowing the dangers involved in it. The children who do not know the seriousness of their acts may also take the drugs and then use them. Other than these scenarios, it is also possible that a person who wants to commit suicide tries to take these drugs and uses them to kill themselves. All these can be prevented if these drugs are stored in the right method. There are certain factors that are involved in the method of storing of these drugs and they are as follows: 1. All the poisonous drugs should be kept separately in compartments under the safe custody of medical Officer: This aspect of storage in the hospital is very important because if the drugs are not under the control of one person, then accountability is lost and there is a chance of misuse of the drugs. The poisonous drugs have to be handled very carefully and so it is usually kept in the custody of the senior person who is also very responsible. 2. All the general drugs, instrumental equipments should be kept separately under the custody of storekeeper: All the other drugs that are not poisonous, but can still be used for harming oneself or others should be stored in the storage area meant for that with a responsible person in charge of it. It can be used as and when necessary. 3. All the insecticides and disinfectants keep separately under the custody of Pharmacist: The pharmacy is usually responsible for all the various medications that are used for various purposes. These can also be under the custody of the person who is in charge of the stores. Their roles can be inter changed as they take care of similar things. 4. All vaccines should be preserved with proper temperatures in refrigerator: These drugs that are used mainly for small children should be stored under the right conditions. This is very important because if the storage of these drugs are not done properly, then it can lead to further problems including fatal accidents. 5. Ensure physical verification at the end of every calendar year: The process of tallying and verifying the presence of the various drugs is a huge exercise. This is also an important aspect of monitoring the efficiency of the employees of the stores and also the pharmacy. Any missing drugs should be noted and an enquiry should be instituted to identify the reason and also to find where the drug has been used. This will make sure that people do not misuse the various dangerous drugs for any reason. These are the various methods of making sure that one is able to store the drugs that are poisonous and otherwise in the hospital or pharmacy. This can also be followed at home to prevent accidental intake of drugs.
