Zucchini may not be a very common name for many people. It is one of the greatest foods available that is natural and loaded with many benefits. All the health benefits related to Zucchini are due to the various substances that it contains. These minerals and nutrients that are present in Zucchini help to prevent and also treat various diseases.

Zucchini is usually yellow, green or light green in color. It is very similar to a ridges cucumber. It is present all over the world and is available in all places though the vegetable originated in America. The importance of Zucchini is because it can be eaten raw. It can be added to salads or made into soup. It can be shredded and added to the salads. Any food that can be eaten raw will provide many health benefits to the person eating the food. When a food is cooked, all the nutrients and minerals may be lost in the cooking process. Zucchini gives a lot of health benefits because it can be eaten raw.

The various minerals in Zucchini include a lot of vitamin C. Other than Vitamin C, Zucchini also contains proteins, carbohydrates and fiber. The fat content in Zucchini is very less. This is also a very beneficial thing when it is eaten.

The vitamin C that is present in Zuchini along with the lutein help to maintain and also improve the health of the eye.

2. Weight loss/Low calories:
The very less amount of calories that is present in Zucchini helps to reduce obesity and also helps to control the weight of the person eating it. The large amount of water content in Zucchini also helps to reduce the weight of the person by reducing the hunger drive of the person eating it.

3. Cancer:
The presence of good amounts of fiber in Zucchini help in more than one way as far as the health of a person is concerned. The high fiber content helps to add bulk to the stool. This also helps in preventing constipation. These factors combine to prevent the risk of colon cancer. Any person eating large amount of fiber will be at a lesser risk of getting colon cancer.

4. Other health benefits:
There are other health benefits that are related to adding Zucchini in the diet regularly. These include a reduced risk of getting asthma. People who suffer from asthma may also be cured by eating Zucchini regularly as it contains a large amount of Vitamin C. Zucchini also helps to prevent diseases like scurvy because of the vitamin C present in it.

5. Potassium and folate:
The potassium and folate that are present in Zucchini also help to maintain the body function. Potassium is very essential for the body to function optimally.

Natural foods that can be eaten raw lie Zucchini should be included in the diet daily. This is the reason why salads are very important for good health. They will provide all the minerals and vitamins in full amounts, for health and healing. Zucchini is a prime example of a food that can be eaten raw that provides many health benefits.
