Motivation plays a major role in the performance of a team. A leader who is a good motivator can get wonders or miracles done by his team. There can be many ways to encourage the employees. In the traditional way, awareness about the strict rules and regulations enforced by the organization, were being used to get the work done by the team effectively and efficiently. But in modern industries, that concept would hardly work. Enforcing more rules and regulations may encourage the employees to jump to other companies. So, how can a leader motivate his team in a modern way? Below are few tips for doing so.

1. There should be a proper rewards and recognition system to honor the top performers in terms of productivity and quality of work done.

2. Even the most dedicated employees in terms of attendance, time management etc. have to be honored, even if they are not the toppers in terms of productivity and quality.

3. Leader should appreciate any achievement done by the team members, by shooting a mail to the whole team. A leader should create such an environment that an achievement of an individual would be noticed by the whole team and everybody appreciates him or her.

4. There should be the transparent parameters about selecting and honoring the top performers. A leader should make everyone clear about the parameters of top performer awards. A grid or document ..can be saved at common folder, where everybody has access to it.

5. Suggestions of the team members have to be taken about the system of honoring the top performers.

6. Top performers have to be awarded before the whole team, or before all the employees of the organization.

7. Along with the certificate of honor, the royalty amount also should be given for the top performers.

8. There can be a system of inviting for free lunch or dinner to the top performers, along with the management. During that time, management would congratulate and encourage him to keep up the performance and to perform even better.

I hope the above tips would help a leader to apply good motivation in his team.
