At the Commonwealth European Championship Games Essex Olympic Skeet Shooter Ivan Marzocchi was called to represent England on the International event took place in the Isle of Man and with great honour it was the last important shoot of the year with great expectations after a long season.

Against Malta, Jersey, Ireland, Walsh, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Gibraltar, England was looking good considerate the top two shooter from each Team was competing for the title and a Medal.

Ivan team mate was Gary Taylor a promising Junior with a good level of form at this time of the competitive season and with great friendship sheared from battles all year round booth shooters looking forward to win a Gold Medal for England.

With a great start from Gary and Ivan, after the third round England was top of the board with two clays of advantage from Malta and with one more round to shoot tomorrow Ivan told us:

-I am feeling good and it is great to have Gary has a Team mate. I think we have a great chance to win but it is not easy shoot in this windy conditions and I hope tomorrow we can take a Gold Medal.-

On the last day the pressure was very high and Ivan knows to be on the safe site need to put a great score to maintain the lead, but after missing a target on station 4 the atmosphere was electric.

With one target down Marzocchi knows at his point if he will not miss on station 6 the Gold medal was in the bag with a score of 24 on 25 but when called for a pair the high wind put the targets out of line and nearly impossible to shoot. With a great reflexes Ivan was putting his hand up on the air to refuse the targets and ask to the referee to call for a -no birds- and give to Ivan a pair again to be re-shoot. Due to inexperience Junior Referee he refused to send the pair out again and ask to continue and finish the round, but with immense disappointment Ivan miss the last target and finish with a 21.

At this point the England Manager put one Official Complain to the Jury but was turn down, and Ivan after the infuriated result was put the complain to the Jury of appeal but was turn down for the second time based in un-clarified circumstances. At this point England has the same score of Malta and based on count down from previous rounds was awarded to a Silver Medal.

A very frustrated Marzocchi comment to us: - I am very disappointed of the result and I don't know why I wasn't given the opportunity to shoot again that pair. It was impossible to shoot these target and for me they have took the Gold medal away to who deserved to win.-

We are sure Ivan will take back the Gold in two years time when he will have another chance, and we will wish all the best to the way to London 2012.
Well done to England Team in to all Shooting discipline to have won in total three Gold two Silver and one Bronze.
