Howard Gardener is the author of many books and articles. He converged the thought about multiple intelligence in various fields and found out a way for measuring multiple intelligence. All persons exhibit a combination of the various intelligences. As per Gardener theory of multiple intelligence , there are different ways of expressing intellectual ability. Let us see what are they and how they express multiple intelligence.

First one is linguistic intelligence. It is a sensitivity to the meaning and order of words. The ability to use words and language is measured. The people having auditory skills and like to be speakers are having this capacity. They think in the form of words rather than pictures. These people will respond particularly well to activities of telling stories while illustrating a point, memorizing key facts or dates, reading, writing and interpreting everything in text form. The poet, journalist, writer, teacher, lawyer, politician and translator can be categorized under this group.

Second one is logical and mathematical intelligence. The people having this ability are interested in mathematics and other complex logical systems. They use the ability to reason, logic and numbers. This type of people think conceptually in logical and numerical patterns making connections between pieces of information. They are interesting people and always curious about the world around them. They tend to think by using patterns and linking concepts. They always question about something and expect detailed answers that help them link pieces of information together. The Scientists, engineers, computer programmers, researchers, accountants and mathematicians possess this type of intelligence.

Third form of intelligence is musical intelligence and it is the ability to understand and create music. Musicians, composers and dancers show a heightened musical intelligence. They have the ability to produce and appreciate music. These people think in sounds, rhythms and patterns. They immediately respond to music either appreciating or criticizing what they hear. Many of them are extremely sensitive to environmental sounds and link them with music. They are normally music composers, singers and players of musical instruments .

The fourth one is spatial intelligence. The people who live in visual world belong to this category. The ability to think in pictures is easy for them. They also have the ability to reproduce what they imagine in the mind by drawing pictures on paper and make others to understand their views. The people like artists, architects, designers and sculptors, come under this group. They show much interest in looking maps, charts, pictures, videos and movies.

The fifth type of multiple intelligence is bodily-kinesthetic intelligence. These people use their body in a skilled way, for self-expression or toward a goal. Mimes, dancers, basketball players, and actors are among those who display bodily-kinesthetic intelligence. The people of this type have full control over body movements and handle objects skillfully. They express themselves through body movement. The dancers, sports persons, craftsman and actors belong to this group.

The sixth form of multiple intelligence is interpersonal intelligence. They can be called as mind-readers. They are able to perceive and understand the moods, desires, and motivations of others. The political and religious leaders, skilled parents and teachers, and therapists use this intelligence. They wish to maintain peace in group settings and encourage co-operation among people. There is another form of multiple intelligence called intrapersonal skill. They are self-centered persons. They are not good listeners. All the time they will be talking about themselves. The naturalist intelligent people love outdoor. They explore things. They visit museum, library and surf in internet for a long time, to learn many things.

Due to awareness of multiple-intelligence theory, the teachers find more ways of helping all students in their classes. The children get the benefit while working sums, conducting experiments, and developing theories. The multiple intelligence creates a deep interest in children to identify their talent and improve it. The theory of multiple intelligence suggests several ways in which the things can be presented to facilitate effective learning. The happy relaxed people learn more readily than unhappy stressful people. No type of intelligence is intrinsically right or wrong. Let us find out the multiple intelligence of our children and help them to develop it.
