When people get sick, they may visit a physician. The doctor asks certain specific questions based on experience. These questions are answered by the patient. Based on the answers, the physician may diagnose a condition or a disease. The doctor may also do certain clinical examinations. Other than these, the physician may also ask for certain laboratory tests to be able to diagnose the disease. There are various facts that the doctor needs to know in order for him to make the correct diagnosis. Even if the physician forgets to ask some question, the patient should be able to give all the relevant facts to the doctor. This is the reason this article was written. This article tells of the various facts that the doctor needs to know about the disease condition, symptoms and other facts that will help him in making the correct diagnosis and also give the appropriate treatment. The various facts that the doctor needs to know and should be told by the patient are: 1. Duration of disease / Condition: The duration of the disease is a very important part of the diagnosis. The physician has to know if each of the symptoms that are present is persistent or if they disappear at times. This will help them to be able to diagnose the correct condition. 2. Signs and symptoms: There are various signs and symptoms that are associated with different diseases. These signs vary from disease to disease. Giving the correct information to the physician will help in the doctor making the correct diagnosis. This will help the patient to get the correct treatment and also help in the disease getting cured early. 3. Severity: Certain symptoms can be similar in more than one condition. These diseases can be diagnosed based on minute facts like the severity of the symptoms. So the patient should be able to tell the physician clearly on the severity of the symptoms. 4. Previous history of Disease / treatment: The doctor should also know of any previous history of illnesses. Some of the facts may be relevant and also related to the present condition. A proper history told by the patient will help the physician to make the correct diagnosis and also help in giving appropriate treatment. 5. History of allergies: Allergies can be a major cause of sickness. Many patients get allergic to certain kind of treatments. Some people get allergic to sulpha drugs. For these people, that drug should not be included in the treatment. So unless the patient tells the doctor of their various allergies related to drugs, the doctor may give a pre scription that may exacerbate the illness or cause new problems in the patient. 6. History: The patient should also make sure that they tell the doctor about any exposure they have had to known cases of infectious diseases. This will help the physician in making a diagnosis based on the exposure of the patient to the infective organism. These are the various facts that the patient needs to share with the physician for the doctor to be able to give the correct treatment.
