Facts about the Bible: The book used by most people around the world

The Bible is the book that is used by most people around the world. It is also the book that has been printed most around the world. It has been translated into many languages. The Bible is the religious book of the Christians. It is used because it contains the historical facts of the Israelites. It also contains the teachings of Jesus. This article tells all the important facts about the Bible.

1. Books: The Bible has sixty six books. Each book may contain several chapters and each chapter contains several verses. The book with the most number of chapters is Psalms. The chapter that is longest is also in the book of Psalms. Psalm 119 has 176 verses. Out of the 66 books in the Bible, there are several books in the Old Testament and some in the New Testament.

2. Old Testament: The Old Testament starts with the creation of the Earth. It is contained in the chapter Genesis. It also has many other books that occurred before the birth of Jesus. The Old Testament has thirty eight books. One of the first few chapters talk about the exodus of the people of Israel from Egypt into the Promised land. It also mainly talks of the times when Israel was ruled by various kings. The teachings and prophesies of various prophets are also recorded in these chapters.


3. New Testament: New Testament contains the rest of the books. It has twenty eight books starting with Mathew and ends with Revelation. These are the books that have information after the birth of Jesus. These books were mainly written by the disciples of Jesus. These books also talk of the spread of the Gospel and how the church was established. This ends with the book of revelation that contains prophesies about the end of the world.

4. Translation: The Bible has been translated into many languages. IT was first in Hebrew, but now has been translated into many languages. It has probably been translated into more languages than any other book. This has been because of the work of many missionaries and linguists who have worked hard to complete these translations.


5. Free distribution: The Bible is also distributed free by many organizations around the world. This has been the reason for the wide availability of the Book. The New Testament has been distributed more than the Old Testament.

6. Commentaries: For people who need to know more about the Bible in specific topics, various concordances are available. These are like the Dictionaries. It contains certain keywords and it is easier to study the Bible using these commentaries and concordance.

These are the various important facts about the Bible. The use of Bible has been banned in certain countries that are non secular. In spite of this the Bible is being used in these countries too. Not only Christians, but also people from other religions use the Bible. They use this to find solace sometimes. At other times, the Bible is used as a reference in research of historical facts too.
