A person who is very stressed may become very fatigued. There are various reasons for a person to get fatigued. The reasons may be so varied that it is sometimes difficult to understand if the person really has fatigue. The usual causes of fatigue though, can be either physical or mental.

The causes can be different and so is the prevention and management because they depend on the cause of the fatigue.

Usual causes of fatigue:

The usual causes of fatigue can include the following

a. Overwork:

When an individual has been working for a long time, then it can cause fatigue. This includes people who are working in conditions that sap the energy. High temperatures in the work place can make a person feel fatigued.

b. Physical stress:

There are some people who have to do work which causes them to really stress themselves physically. This may include working in areas wherer the individual may have to lift weights or even control their body. Even sportspeople have to stress themselves physically.

c. Mental stress:

Many people think that desk jobs are ones that usually do not cause fatigue. This is not true because the fatigue of a person depends on the type of work. If the person sitting at the desk and doing the job has a work that needs to be completed in a very short deadline, then the job can be stressful. The work can also include dangerous activities and this can also cause fatigue.

d. Health condition:

The health condition of the person may not be very good and when the person has some disease, then it too can be the cause of fatigue in the person.

Prevention of fatigue:

There are various methods of preventing fatigue and these include a very simple measure initially. This is to avoid the stress causing activity. Though avoiding the activity will prevent the stress, it is always not possible to avoid certain activities especially if it involves the work that a person does. In these people, modifying their work conditions may benefit by preventing fatigue.

Treatment for Fatigue:

There are a few simple methods of managing extreme fatigue. Time management plays a very important role in fatigue management. People who are prone to extreme fatigue should pace most of their activities as pacing the activities will help them to decrease the stress and exhaustion levels. This in turn will help to prevent extreme fatigue from occurring.

Medical treatment of extreme fatigue is not very important unless the individual is very highly stressed either physically or mentally. If this is the case, then the individual is given either a muscle relaxant or stress relieving medications. This will in turn help to reduce the fatigue.

These are the various causes, methods of prevention and treatment for extreme fatigue. It is very important for every person to know these causes and methods of management because it will help them to identify if they have extreme fatigue and if they have fatigue, then they will be able to modify their activity so that they can prevent it from becoming a chronic condition that needs care.
