Exercise to health: How to exercise to lead a healthy lifestyleBY: David Prakash Kumar | Category: Health and Fitness | Post Date: 2009-06-15
Healthy lifestyle is a word that has caught the attention of people everywhere. Now the world has become more mechanized and people have started leading more comfortable lives. Though this is good, it has had a negative influence on the health of people. Many youngsters have taken to eating fast foods that are rich in calories. Older people have taken to driving where they used to walk. These kind of negative lifestyle modifications have led to increased diseases life cardiac problems and diabetes. The main reason for the high number of people with these kinds of diseases is due to the lack of proper exercises. Regular exercise will go a long way in helping people to lead a healthy lifestyle. Here in this article, a systematic method of doing exercise is written. Warm up: Before any exercise, a routine of warm up should be done. The warm up can be five or ten minutes. This warm up consists of stretches to the calf muscles and quadriceps muscles. The warm up will help in increasing the blood supply and help the body prepare for the exercises. Exercises: The actual exercise routine should consist of either walking, jogging, swimming, cycling or a mixture of any of these. These exercises mentioned above are all examples of aerobic exercises. Aerobic exercises are the best form of exercise for the general population. Aerobic exercises may not increase the muscle bulk of the person. The reason for its popularity is the increased cardiac benefits that it has. Aerobic exercises are low intensity long duration exercises that will help to increase the cardio vascular fitness of the individual. Duration: These exercises should be done for a minimum of forty minutes and can last up to about sixty minutes. It is better to do this exercises everyday, but for those who are not able to do everyday, doing it at least three to four times a week will suffice. Intensity: The intensity with which you do these exercises can vary from person to person. It depends on your prior level of fitness. For a highly sedentary person, the intensity needs to be less. This is because the body has to get accustomed to the new activity. All those who are starting out on an exercise programme for the first time should either consult a fitness instructor or a cardiac specialist who will identify the level of exercise that is safe initially. Once you understand the initial intensity with which you can exercise, you can slowly increase the duration and intensity over time. This will prevent any untoward happenings.
