It is said that due to the increase in oil price, the air fare has been considerably increased nowadays. Due to the rise in airfares and economy crisis, the IT companies are slowly cutting down the expenses towards the air travel by their employees. Since within 90 days the air fares across the price spectrum have risen by 30%, many software companies start to rethink sending employees for project work from place to place.

The IT employees are asked to plan well and make flight booking in advance to ensure the booking of lowest price ticket and limit the expenditure to the bare minimum. Actually, the IT employees while travelling on on-site assignment, are asked to search for cost-effective air travel options. They are also asked to take less costly hubs to fly out. Now, they have to fly on routes that costs the lowest with less stopovers.

To cut expenditure on air travel, some IT companies encourage group booking. Some airlines offer group travel programs that may be attractive for association meetings and incentive trips. They offer discount air fares of about 5% off for domestic travel, and the savings may be even more significant depending on the zone where flights originate.

To avoid frequent air travel, some IT companies plan in such a way that the IT employees going for on-site assignments, have to complete two or three projects in the nearby localities, before they return. The trend of sending many people for on-site projects is not encouraged now. The IT companies wish to send minimum number of persons only for on-site projects.

Already there is frequent fluctuation of job opportunities in IT field. The hike in salary is also not at all attractive. If the other benefits to gain job experience is getting reduced as told above, many people may plan to switch over to other fields from IT field.
