Diet plays a major role in causing as well as preventing cancer. People who eat a large amount of foods that are carcinogenic in nature are highly prone to get cancer. At the same time, dietary elements may protect an individual from getting cancer. This is because a large amount of specific nutrients and foods may induce a diet constituent that has the ability to block a carcinogen activating pathway that might have otherwise induced a greater risk of getting cancer.

Cancer as all of us know is caused by various carcinogens. The food plays a major role as a carcinogen. So, diet plays a major role in preventing the various types of cancers from causing mortality and morbidity in the population. The various carcinogens like artificial colours that are food should be identified and excluded from the diet. This will help to increase the life style of the individuals.

Nutrition for different types of cancer:

Breast cancer:
The individual who is suffering from breast cancer may benefit a little by eating more fruits and vegetables. They should also take only very low amounts of saturated fats, soy foods should also be taken in moderation. The individual with breast cancer will benefit more if there is no alcohol consumption, if some alcohol has to be consumed, then moderate amount of alcohol consumption is allowed. The most important aspect though is to eat a healthy and balanced diet. This kind of diet will help the person to maintain a healthy weight through appropriate diet and also regular exercise.

Colo rectal cancer: The important thing in this type of cancer again is to maintain a healthy weight. The weight can be maintained if the person who is suffering from this type of cancer is able to eat a well balanced diet that is consistent with guidelines for cancer and also heart disease prevention. I will be better if the individual eats a diet that has fibre content as this can help those suffering from this type of cancer. The individual who is suffering from colo rectal cancer should also participate in regular physical activity. This will further help the individual.

Lung cancer: Each person with lung cancer can differ in the symptoms based on the severity of the disease. This is the reason that the diet should be based on each persons condition. The individuals suffering from this condition should also try to maintain a healthy weight. The individuals should adjust their food intake and their physical activity according to the need. A multi vitamin supplement as a capsule or a diet that has varied but high content of vitamins should help the individual suffering from this condition to benefit.

Prostrate cancer: The patients with this disease will benefit if they consume a diet that is rich in vegetables and also fruits. Food that is low in saturated fat will benefit the individual. The person should also try to maintain a physically active lifestyle.

Many people might have advanced stages of cancer and may even be terminally ill. They might suffer from malnutrition and/ or weight loss. Effective alteration in eating patterns is necessary to help them to maintain adequate and nutritious food intake.
