Yes, being a parent is extremely stressful. Most women have a natural urge to have children, in fact many times we even talk our men into starting a new family life by going for a baby. After we get pampered during pregnancy and get the luxury of guilt free eating, everything changes once the baby if finally out. No doubt that we love our little one more than anything in this world, it sure comes with a lot of stress. Motherhood stress is the most during the first year of pregnancy, since I have gone through this process once I thought to share my experiences with you and if you ever decide to use any of the tip, always consult your doctor.

I thought motherhood was "Just" full of joy !! .... I was a bit wrong..
It requires many changes in life and personal sacrifices ..
In the end it's all worth it !!

GENERAL PROBLEMS THAT PARENTS FACE DURING THE 1st YEAR:
1. Baby crying: Humans by nature hate baby crying and it triggers our inner senses and we immediately want to comfort the baby. Well there are ties because baby seems to be crying for no apparent reason. Some babies cry more than others and dealing with a crying baby can really elevate your stress.

2. Sleepless nights: The joys of motherhood come with sleepless nights. Even though many babies tend to start sleeping all night long within months, others just get up in the middle of night and cry again. Either they are hungry and other times they have had their share of sleep and are all ready to play. Wait but you have to go for work early in the morning or prepare breakfast .. whatever. If your baby cries loudly in the night there is always a concern that your neighbors may be getting disturbed.

3. Pregnancy weight: Most of us will have 20+ pounds after pregnancy, even though you want to eat healthy, there is no time to prepare that healthy food.

4. Sick baby: Babies get sick very sick since their immune system is still developing. You may land up making a few trips to the emmergency if the temperature goes too high.

5. Other non-ending work: House is in a mess, you seem to be running out of diapers or baby food. At the same time you need to secure your house so that it becomes baby proof.

Wow, becoming mom is sure fun but there is a lot of extra work and patience needed to deal with.
Following are a few ways to reduce baby stress that worked for me.

1. Talk to your doctor:
Yes, they deal with these things all the time, talk to your Pediatrician or Physician to see if you can get some counseling support for new mothers.

2. Don't give up on your social life.

3. Eat your favourite food that makes you happy.

4. Make a schedule for the baby - do not let only baby tell you when he/she wants to sleep. Try to fix a time table for sleeping, meals and playing. If you have sleepless nights - Sleep when your baby sleeps in the day.

5. Avoid become an over protectionist - Take care of your baby but do not just be too crazy or take minor problems too seriously.

6. Go for shopping.

7. It's ok to cry once in a while, you will feel much better after that.

8. It is ok to leave your child in a good day care for a while and watch a movie with your friend or partner (say once a week)

9. Take a short walk outside the house - fresh air does wonders to both mummy and baby.

10. Call up a friend and discuss your problems with her, you will feel light at heart. If you have friends who have babies too it will be nice to know that you are not the only one having problems.

11. Invite your friends for a light drink session. (say a small glass of wine)

12. Watch those gorgeous smiles of your baby, make a movie and see it later again.

13. Meditation is helpful for many moms.

14. Go for a workout in the Gym ( don't over-do), you may feel more energetic after that.

15. Time for daddy to take care of baby. Its a good idea to tell the dad of baby to be responsible and take care of the baby for a few hours in the evening.
