The appointment means fixing a particular date and time for meeting an important person or VIP. It is a mutual agreement and the concerned two persons should be ready to meet at the scheduled date and time at a particular place. It is actually an arrangement for saving time and cost. What is the cost of missing an appointment? Is there any loss due to non-keeping up an appointment? If we are having the habit of missing appointments often, we should correct ourselves immediately. If we have to miss an appointment occasionally, due to some unavoidable reason, then it is all right. After fixing up an appointment with somebody, we should make a note of it in our dairy and we should not forget it. It is noticed that the teenagers are very much playful and are failing to keep up appointment already fixed. The missing of an appointment with doctor may cause serious problems. The doctors would be busy all the time and it is our duty to arrange our schedule in such a way to meet them at the scheduled time. Some people miss such appointments with doctors which affects the course of treatment and resulting in side effects. If we meet the doctor at the right time, he would have advised us about the treatment, diet and medicines. For the correct diagnosis of disease and giving proper care for recovery from illness, the foremost thing required is to keep up the appointment. Moreover, if the doctor gives appointment to a patient, he could not meet others at that time. So, his time and money is also wasted. Some busy people have personal secretary or appointment scheduler to take care of their appointment details. The doctors, lawyers, politicians and businessmen are normally visited by others by fixing an appointment. The secretary could help us by seeing the schedule of VIP for fixing and blocking a date and time, to discuss a matter with VIP. The appointment scheduler helps for searching appointment type, date and duration. We could schedule our appointments from anywhere through internet or PDA. Some professional appointment setters are also available to service us in fixing appointment with somebody we ask for and making other arrangements for meeting him. In the B2b sales market, meeting a person without an appointment is impossible. But, whatever way we fix an appointment, we should not take a chance of missing it. It would be very difficult to get an opportunity to meet the VIP again. Moreover, the VIP would have got annoyed with our behavior of not keeping up an appointment and he may not give his full cooperation while meeting at the next time. If we are unable to meet the person, after getting an appointment, we should inform them beforehand so that they could fix another appointment at that time. If we came to know our inability at the last moment, then also we should inform the concerned person immediately stating the reason for not attending the meeting with him. The cost of missing an appointment is not measurable. It damages our image, reputation and goodwill. Unless the reason is strong we should not cancel or ignore an appointment.
